It should defiantly hover with that monster big block on the front of a .40 size airplane
. Mine does a fine job of hovering with a small block OS 50 SX on it at 5 1/2 pounds! Here is a pic of my GP Cap 232 .40 size in action!Ricky

I asked this in ARF and no answers yet so ill try here
1st plane.
Epic/VectorFlight 58" Extra 300
its 5.5 lbs with electronics, no engine
it was 7 lbs with the MDS on it
2nd plane.
Great Planes CAP 21.
its an older kit. Its 4lbs empty no electronics or engine on it
I have a Saito 80, will it work and fly any of these with any authority?
thanks
matt

I learned how to 3d on the old GP Cap 21 with a Saito .91, it is a beast, I'm sure the .80 will be just fine as well. The plane set up right will do great harriers, harrier landings, waterfalls, etc. with that big prop blast working on the tail.

Ricky (citation x),
Tell us a about your setup on your GP Cap232. Weight? CG Location? Throws? Servos? etc....
I've got one in the bones with a Saito 91 lined up to go on it. Looks like it will be a monster with this motor, but that's what I'm looking for. I had the 91 on a DP Ultimate 40 and it was insane, and the Cap should be about a pound lighter!
Thanks
Richard

rwlewis- I would recommend keeping it light as possible and use a light engine.1) I started out by scraping the ply side's of the fuse and using balsa, also I dremeled the cutout's in the former's to reduce weight. 2) I also reduced the dihedral by 1/2 inch on either side to help reduce the coupling.3) I bought new aileron's from the LHS which were larger fwd to aft by 1/4 inch and also longer; about 1-1/2 inch's from the wing root. 4) I also put 1 mini servo on each aileron. I used Hitec 225 Mg's all the way around except for the throttle HS-81 micro. 5) I replaced the stock junk cowl with a nice cowl from stan's fiber tech. 6) I then garnished it with a 720 Mah Nimh battery pack from radical RC. Also Double bevel all control surfaces for max throw: Elev-50 degrees and ailerons/rudder were maxed didn't measure the values. I can't remember where I have the CG, I beleive it was just a bit aft. Hope this helps. Ricky

I cant add much to what Ricky says.
I wish I had reduced the dihedral, and the weight. I also enlarged the ailerons, almost to the root, and about 1.5 inches deep.
Does loverly walls - bends over backwards. Saito 91 pulls it round well, 6.25 AUW [

Hey Guys heres my set up!!!
I have a Hitec Micro 555 reciever a Hs-81 for throttle servo Hs-425bb elevator servo a Hs-475hd rudder servo and a Hs-525bb hi speed aileron servo, and a 600MaH batterpack for gear, with the Webra 50 with slimline muffler for power. I also made the hole in the formers that hold the sheeting on bigger and was considering buying carbon fiber landing gear, i didn't sheet the cockpit either I'm just going to cover over it. This plane should come in around 5lbs!!!!!!! Hope this helps!!
