Default Hanger 9 edge 540 elevator servoes

How is everyone mounting there elevator servos inside like
the instruction say with only one servo or in the rear with two servos outside. I am using a Saito 180 I know it would be better to have two in the rear but will that be to much weight in the
back.

also does anybody have any pics. of where they mounted them
in the rear and a little info on how they did the brackets to
screw the servos to.

Thanks George

I am still building mine & installed two servos in the rear just behind the last bulkhead. I glued in some 1/8 plywood that stretches from the top stringer to the bottom. I cut holes & installed servo's right below top stringer so it would not interfere with the pull pull cables for the rudder. In saying this I am sure I will need the weight in the rear as I am using a fox 3.2 in the nose. Hope this helps.

Is it absolutly necessay to mount them in the rear. I mounted 2 Hitec 615mg's on the servo rail with dave brown carbon pushrods and 4-40 wire. I too have a saito 180 with the battery in the fuel tank compartment and it balances just a little tail heavy. I havent had a lick of trouble.

Thanks alot for the pics. and link to web site krayzc they help more than anything I am new at building and I get more out
of pictures than people telling me how it should be done.
Although thanks for other reply's as well.

I have jr ds8411 servos witch is probably way more than enough
but I would rather have to much than not enough if they are not to heavy. Anybody have any comments on this could always take them back. My plan is to use the 8411 on everything but the
throttle.

That's kinda what I had in mind when I bought them. You can either pay now or pay later. I am finally starting to learn that.

What motor did you run on yours krayzc.

Thanks again

i had 2 of them one with a satio 180 the other with a rv zdz 40. the plane flew great on both motors just easier on the wallet with the gas engine if i spent a saturday or sunday all day flying. Both ran the same servo set-up.

Krayzc:
I have installed the fox 3.2 in mine, it is a 3.5 lb engine not counting the muffler & ignition, all up comes out to about 4.3 lbs. do you think it will be a decent plane with this engine?? Do you think it will be a good 3d plane??

the H-9 is a pretty good flyer it just lacks square inches in the wing area. You should look for something in the 1200 or more square inches it will really make a difference. Its like looking at tv or stereo in a store you can really see which one looks different or sounds better. Once you get it home you no longer have anything to compare it to so all seems well. Most of the newer kits coming out for a 3.2 size motor will have 1200-1400 square inches of wing now you are talking float, light flying, and slow landings......

1390 inches on the above link

1204 on the laser

1200 on many of the models here

1380 on the edge

1400+ on most of these kits.....

yes $$ these cost more than a H-9 Edge

One of the guy's in our club was flying the h-9 edge with a us41 which I think is a little heavier than the fox, he said it flew great just not enough power, I am hopeing it will be ok as I should have it ready to fly next weekend. I will post a review of the edge with the fox 3.2 after I fly it.
Thanks

So krayzc you thiik I will have a pretty good set up with what I got. N ow I just hope I can fly it when I finish it.

How much does the rv zdz 40 cost the reason I went with the saito 180 was because I thought it would be easer to set up.

the rv version of the 40 is about 425-460 new and usually about that same price used with a peacekeeper muffler thrown into the deal

i think you will enjoy the H-9 very much

zdz 40 link:
http://www.rcshowcase.com/html/engines/zdz40.html

i orginally went with the satio 180 for ease of set-up only to realize the zdz 40 set up was just as guick plus i could run a smaller tank, ease of starting no glow ingitor needed, less tools to take to the field, ect.....

If I would have known there wasn't that much difference in the price and set up I could have gone with gas because I have to drive 80 miles to get fuel for the Saito. So in about one weekend
I could make the difference of the 60 dollars in the price. Oh well
you live and learn. Oh well I'll have to live with what I have for
now and have to buy lots of fuel every time I go to Houston I go up there pretty often anyway I race rc cars also and thats were all the tracks are. Although since I started flying planes I don't
race much any more. Planes are a lot more fun and you don't have to work on them near as much.

Anyway thanks for the help I'm sure I'll have more question
before I finish so if you see another thread titled what end of the plane do you mount the engine on or something like that.

PLEASE HELP ME!

Thank again krayzc

Oh by the way we had nice weather and a big turn out at our field had a good 8 or 10 planes and at least 6 people sitting
in lawn chairs talking about how they use to fly the wings off there planes.lol
Pretty small club but thats good it gives the people who want to
fly plenty of time in the air and have a few real good pilots.
