About to put together a Flip 3D and am wondering if there are any things that need modification/strengthening etc, will put a Saito 72 in the plane. Are there any other setup items that need special attention?
Thanks,
Bill

Instead of using the guide wires for the stab, I have had great success with using
carbon fiber strips on the bottom of the horizontal stab. Also, you will want some strong
servos for the big control surfaces. The stock rods may bend depending on how
aggressive of a set up you do.

I replaced the wire with carbon fibre strutes cynoed into brass tube then screwed to fin and stabilisers on all four surfaces, ie above and below the stabilisers. I've used carbon rod push rods with ball joint connectors. I've not needed up rated servos using Futaba 3001 or 3004. did strip one gear on a heavy landing. Replaced the u/cart for wire as all my flying is of grass and forget the spats.

i stripped a 148 servo on the rudder (see my outher thread). i used the stock hardwer untill i found a kink in the rugger pushrod, i know use the stock hardwere only on the ailerons. ive also used the tail wires, but i am considering replacing them with thin-ish carbon rods with some sort of brass/ali ends, then i'll find out how to attach em[&:]
I like jonnyh am going to replace the UC for a wire one, the field opocite is freshly ploughted with 1 feet troughs and mounds
not good! ill put on an wire UC from an old panic as this will absorb the shock a bit as the UC hes departed the fus many a time!
