Default Need an excuse...

Guys,
Not exactly 3D related, but Thursday is my B-Day and if things go my way I plan on taking the day off and go flying all day. Problem is that I need a good excuse to take a personal day. My job is great - but I'm in a position where I can't really just blow out for no good reason.
DR's appointment - car broke down... are kind of lame. I need a good one that they will feel guilty about even questioning me on. Common - I know you guys are good

Mother/father/wife/child rushed to hospital.

Small children are great for that - sick/throwing up all night, swallowed a coin etc. Of course depends on if you have one or not.

A bad crick in the neck is a good one, especially if you turn up the next day with a foam neck brace of some description.

Or real killer - dog/cat hit by car, rushed to vets, but not much that they could do. You are really cut up about it...

Be a man.

Tell them you are taking a personal day, and leave it at that.

That is why they are called "personal days"!

Decompress.

Sometimes you just need a day away from the office.

In fact, that is what I told my office today.

Don't say anything!!!
Just go flyin.

Why do you have to justify the art of tearing the sky to shreds?

Seems to me they should justify to you the reason they don't want you to go, not the other way around.

Hey,
I'm all for it. The problem is that the "Truth" doesn't always get you far. Belive me I learned it - time and time again - the HARD way - in a dead end job with a bleek outlook. so I accepted it, granted - this may not be true for everyone. I like my current job and learned that in order to get here you gotta play a little politics. If it makes me less of a man then so be it...

Eye Trouble? LOL, I use that on my guys all the time when they call in sick (just joking of course) I make up for it with them, they know I don't care either way.

No children..... Yet..... but perhaps that's a good excuse to start?

Funeral?? Thats GOOD. I think I can sacrafice an Aunt for that

Tell them that you are dating your sister. That sounds sick enough to me, he will be sure to let you stay home for that one. Heck he might even let you come home for a long time. Just think about the stick time you will get then.

I've used the excuse that the phone/cable/electric is out and the service department told me they can't set a time and I'll have to wait all day for them.

I haven't used that one in a while, I think I'll take Thursday off as well.

Hey man, where are you flying?

Happy B'Day.

Just tell them it is your B-Day and you are taking a personal day. Many companies actually give B-days to thier employees anyway.

I'd say anything that "happens" on your birthday is going to be seen through. Take a floater/personal day & be upfront about it. If you need to lie, tell them your wife/girlfriend asked you to take the day off.

Actually, I'm in sales so nobody expects me to be in the office. Don't think I'll make it though.

Have a happy B-Day.
