I need some help here. What do you recommend to set the travel on the elevator and ailerons? I have one coming and should be here in a day or two. Planning on putting an O.S. 50sx on it. I have a friend that has a 300 extra s and he went by the book and it didn't fly just right. Any one out there that has experience on this plane? I have a 6 channel with duel rates capability. Thanks for any help,
Keith

I am running mine with a YS 63 on a 13 x 6 apc prop. I found that more pitch and more speed didn't realy help the airframe. I guess with 50 sx try a 12 1/4 x 3 3/4 prop.
I am also running the rx and servos at 6V
I guess the ailerons are about stock, if no a little less than the recommended. I found it a little twichy arount the centre of the movement.
Rudder is as much as I can get.
As for the elevators. Low rate as stock. The test is to start at a low rate and then pull loops while increasing the elevator rate on yor radio. When is snaps out of the loop you have too much travel so back it off a little and that will be safe for normal flying. For high rate I have about 40 to 45 degrees of movement. At this level it is almost unflyable in normal mode, but 70% expo and not to fly it at speed it works out quite well for a 3d setup.
The blenders, flat spins and snaps are to die for.
Good luck
Kris

It is probably a good idea to go with the recommended rates per instructions for your first flight.if you have dual rates add some throw on high rates,so you could switch over in case the throws are too low for you.Make sure it is balanced well.Starting off with 3D deflections is suicidal, especially when when you have no feel for the plane yet.It is easy to add more throw to increase agility, but can make for some very unpleasant if not fatal flying if starting off with them.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the info. I really want to enjoy this plane on the the first round. I fly the u can do 3d right now. I was just wondering how this one was going to react out of the box. Thanks again for all the feed back,

I set mine up as in the instructions. I put 50% exponential on everything. In high rates it will randomly snap roll in a loop, it can be very unstable suddenly. In low rates it is fine and easily flyable. I had never had a plane with high and low rates, in this plane it is essential as it is very unstable in the high rates. I fly in low rates until I want to hover and then I switch modes, I then switch back.

Does anyone done anything different on the CG than what the instructions say? the instructions are at 3 3/16...... Here it is finally complete minus the calon. Didn't want to put that on until after the maiden flight.

I built 2 of these and they each came with an addendum that changed the control throws and cg quite a bit from the Kyosho instructions. I don't know if Kyosho changed the instructions or not. If anyone wants the addendum I can email them in scanned form.
The old instructions had the cg way too far back and to much control which led to an exciting first flight.
