I would like to hear your opinions on what Giant Scale design, Cap 232/231, Extra 300/330/260, Edge 540, etc is the best for the greatest majority of 3D maneuvers and WHY? Please tell us why.
I know they all have drawbacks, but I am looking to learn what designs do most of the aerobatics better/easier/ or whatever. This will help determine my next purchase.
Thanks for sharing.

I read in a magazine that it's easiest to do 3D with a 40% size plane. Why? because the bigger they are the better they fly. The bigger airplanes are more true to scale and fly like there full size counter partners. As far as what model I would say either a Cap 232 or the Edge 540.
The worst draw back to 3D is the $6000.00 min to the $12,000 price tag on the best plane you can get. This price range is RTF of course. You can obvioiusly get things done a lot cheaper just depends on how far you wanna go. You can build a nice Aerotech Edge 540 for about $5400.00 RTF, I know this because a guy at the field just finished one. Just my opinion and 2 $.

I have both the H9 Extra 330L and the Cap 232 and they are capable of 100% TOC quality flying if your thumbs and fingers can move that way.
The Extra is a little heavier than the CAP but I'm at 6000ft in Denver and they are both great 3D planes that don't cost 6k to get started.....In fact the planes are superb at $800 as an ARF....The you stick a $1000-1200 motor setup or even the recommended GT-80 if your at lower altitudes and it comes in under $1000. Then top of the line servos and your in the air for around $2500-$3000 Then if you have the motor and servos you could upgrade to a newer plane for the $800 kit price...
H9 has a new SU-31 that is going to make a big name for itself.....Its sexy and from what I have heard talking to the guys flys awesome. Hangar 9 is really getting it together with the right tool for the job. I have flown several of the ARFs at the 33% class and many of them fly well.....but I think most that have the CAP will agree they are excellent price and in some cases perform better. Look at the posts over the past few months of the guys flying the Cap232 from H9 and you will get others opinions as well.

Thanks guys, that is helpful. The ARFs are a great way to get going in Ginat scale and avoid the huge premium price.
Start with one of those and just save for somethign nice, and in the mean time your experience with 33% grows.
I was curious if any planes perform more of the maneuvers better than others, any ideas?

Yeah the lighter one usually flies better. So find the lightest one you can. As of right now that would be the H9 Cap or wait for the SU31. If you are going to wait I suggest you order it now.

AS far as 3D goes you can't do better than Carden. If you want good slow flight go with the Carden Edge. If you want tumbles and Harriers go with the CAP. Dennis does the most spectaular job designing and kitting these birds!

Hey Gang, I can not agree more on the H9 CAP , it is truly an awesome plane and the best bang for your buck out there !
It is a superb combo with the great ZDZ-80 single, very lite with tons of power ! It will hover at mid idle and do any manuver at 1/4 power. I'd say it is as good or better then some of the big 40 %ers ! We also just test flew our new / used 1/3 size Aeroworks Edge 540 with a new 3W 75 and it is to early to say for sure, but it is as good or better then the H9 CAP in many ways. Did not ring it out hard on the 1st flt so will have to test more tomorrow, but MAN is it SWEET !! It wil do great normal and inverted flats where the cap will only do inverted flats ?? It also locks into harriers great with almost no whobble at all , and this was in calm air with no head wind for help. It did all manuvers real well and stops on a dime from any position - What a FUN and Sweet machine ! Thanks Fred , we really love it !!!! Rod & Chris
