^5 to carrido2
That was the one I had,,,,Wonder if anyone would have another video out there..
carrido2 do you fly IMAC..I missed the Abiline contest,,but made it to Odessa,,Texoma,,Kingsbury,,
I got the Giant Scale Planes ARC,,had to do some extra work on the sheeting but it was built pretty fair for the cost,,I did get a bad canopy and called them they sent a new one the next day,,no question asked,,thought that was pretty good ,,,

i think the giles and edge are complete opposite, Giles has that swept wind with a straight TE for IMAC, the edge has the straight LE for 3d, seems like the edge is a giles with a backwards wing!

No, giles's dont 3D (that well), they're for IMAC sequences. Now ask the same question about an edge!

I currently have 2 Carden 40% Extra 330's, have extensively flown the Cap's, Edges, and Extra's, and put a number of flights on other giant aerobatic planes. Of them all, I really miss the Giles 300 the most. It had the best hot rod feel to it. Not a luxury sports car, SUV, or mini-van, but an outright muscle car.

Steven, nice to hear from you. My mistake, it was the 300... not the 202. Anyway, that was one beautiful airplane. I'm working on getting one right now.... the blue and yellow one for sale on here. Anyway, hows the Extra's been flyin'?
Thanks,
Craig Rideout

Craig, The 202 looks very much like the 300, and I confuse them all the time. The Extras have both been flying very well, and both are very reliable. I like the Extras very much, and like the Giles, if I didn't have them anymore I'd miss them. I think you will be very pleased with the Giles. If I only had one to choose, I think it very well might be a Giles 300.

Slow airspeed won't snap it all by itself, but instead it will just do a normal forward stall, and recovery is normal by just adding some power and relaxing the elevator a tad. If you want it to snap at slow speed, you have to give it snap roll control inputs. And when you do slow it down, then tell it to snap, it snaps and comes right around and when you recover you would swear its standing still in the air. I then just add power and fly away. The slow speed flight on this plane always seemed to amaze the pilots that see it for the first time. Its not snap happy on its own, but very docile. Landing speed is the same with the Giles as it is on all my other 35% and 40% airplanes. Nothing unusual about it. That has been my experience with the 40% Carden Giles, about standard weight, with a DA-150 and JR 8411's all around.
I'll try to compress some more video of it and put it up on my site. I'll let you know when I get it done.
Nice job on your airplane. Now get that puppy in the air

Question for sfaust. Hey Steve, do you by chance remember where the cg was at on your Giles. Im at that point with the one Im building. Thanks, Walt

Unfortunately, I do not. I gave the airframe away to someone that was going to rebuilt it (frankly, it was much worse than just rebuilding from a kit) and I gave him the plans as well. But a quick call to Carden will get you a good starting point. I know I was aft of their recommended CG.

I just made my first few flights with the Giles this afternoon ,,all I can say is ^^^^WOOOOW^^^^^.
This thing tracks like an arrow and it loves to tumble ,,sets up solid in harrier,,I can not figure out why Giant Scale Planes get's such a bad rapp ?? after all you get what you pay for I had a few things to change but they were minor ..and got really good coustermer support too !! I have allways heard bad things about the Giles,,I wish I would have gotten one a long time agao,,It is going to be a really fun airplane,,and flighs just like you said,,straight and true ,,SLOW landings,,My H9 Sukhoi landed faster than this bird ,,,,am I excited (( naawww ))) LOL,,here is a shot after a couple of flights ,,

You hit the nail on the head about the strength of the Giles. Tumbles, snaps, etc, enough to make you feel like you're on a roller coaster. And it doesn't give up anything in precision or slow flight. Have you done any elevators with it yet? Mine was a Carden, and it had the most stable elevator with the steepest descent I've ever seen to date. I loved to elevator that thing down with the smoke on, and the smoke came out from under the wing, and went almost straight up past the canopy. It looked awesome. But, keep all this a secret. We don't want to wait for the kits, or have the prices go up.
Enjoy it, as I'm sure you will. Nice looking colors too. It will look great once the wheel pants are on
