Oh, OK. I see now. What you're saying is that the torque curve is closer to what 4-strokes put out, so I will be able to swing a bigger prop with the West than I would with the Irvine. Makes sense now....

Dear Hype owners,
I bought my Weston Hype recently in South Africa, and have an ASP .53 2 stroke Engine. Will it be a good choice with a performance pipe added? I heard that the power to weight ratio from a assembly like this is 3 to 1. That sounds quite impressive.
Also are there any funnies that I should look out for during assembly since it's still in the box?
Best Regards

Dont know.
The weight of the plane is even lighter than my 60 Trainer which I did fly with the .53 engine, and it pulled the plane with vigour. I think with a performance pipe, this plane will be a tiger to fly!
Will keep you posted

I couldent wait anymore and decided to put some home made skis on my hype
the CG is now closer to 155 mm w/skis ,but the plane performed admirably
slight pitch &roll in knife edge-pitch is towards the canopy- hovers easily and does
pretty good elevators with a tad of wing rocking . strait line stuff is
very good -almost like a pattern plane. the YS 63 has more than enough power to
pull out of hover w/a apc 13-4w
-in short I think I will keep it and sell the Flip

Just got mine!
I have a YS 63 too, and it fits perfectly in the stock mounts. It looks like the muffler will fit nicely right down the middle on the bottom.
Can't wait!

I ran my antenna wire out the side and back to a pin under the stab.
FYI - I now have a Saito 100 in mine and it is much fun! There is no penalty for the extra weight. It is still a floater, and the extra horsepower with a 16x4W prop gives me really tight waterfalls. It is the most fun I've had with a plane. I just fitted it with two elevator servos in the tail. I needed a little weight back there and the pull-pull elevators were hard to adjust for perfect travel.
I think I will shorten the wingtips and make them flat on the ends to improve roll rate and harrier.
Fun plane! I wish I had an 80" version for my ZDZ40!

Hint: If you ever need to see a picture you can go to Google, click on images, and then type in the name of what you want to see.

I simply drilled a hole that was a tight fit on a 2" piece of fuel tubing, which I glued into the left side of the fuselage. Then I ran the antenna out the tubing. I put a small T-pin in the bottom of the left stab and used a rubber band to give some shock relief to the wire. That's pretty basic.
