Hi PaulSwany,
This is Dan, and yes the Half-time planes are at Whittier Narrows.
The thread I posted about this plane is buried somewhere here. See post 16 for the link.
These enlarged 3D funflys are awesome. I think they are perfect for transitioning to the larger planes without the high cost/high pucker factor when you are down really low.
I broke the tail off two weeks ago when I needed about 4 more inches of altitude coming out of a forward flip/waterfall. Easy fix, but then last week it went into PCM lockout and ended up cartwheeling down the grass next to the runway.
Actually, the plane is still fixable. Ive got the fuse back together already.
This is one of the reasons why we decided to scratch build. They are fast building, (re-building too) and we can play around with all sorts of ideas.
My next change will be to build a different set of wings for the plane. Perhaps something along the lines of a scaled up H9 Funtana wing. These will be interchangeable with the original wings if I can get the center of lift close to each other. I won't even have to rebalance to use either set of wings!
The 84inch Flip should be awesome also. these things may end up being too light when flown in any substantial wind, but it is easy to add ballast at the CG if one wanted to.
Short of building your own, the WildHare Edge and their upcoming Extra will be the best value out there IMO.
3D is just too fun and endless new manuevers to learn. With the exception of my GeeBees and a soon to be built Super Duelist Twin, all my planes are 3D planes now.
Happy New Year to everyone.

Hi Rod, how's the other scratch built 3D plane that Greg build flying? (blown up UCD 3D I believe) I test flew if for him at Tuscarora. It was underpowered a that time but Greg was possibly looking into a new lighter/higher power gasser to replace the Fuji.

Tell Chris and Mrs. M. I said Happy New Year. We need to get together this spring and practice some IMAC sequences. Is Chris moving up to Advanced?

.........Mark

Hey Mark, yea just like my dad said, i like the advanced a lot , and the intermediate seems a little weird. I will fly both of them first and then deside. Why you want me out of intermediate too? j/p, yea hope we can hook up and fly. I cant wait to crash my dads King Flipper plane. hehe
