I see that all of you wanted me to get the ZDZ 80. Well i probably cant. Since i got the GT 80 for christmas. My parents said maybe down the road they will get me the ZDZ 80 and put the gt 80 on my stinger. I will let yall know how it turns out. Thanks for the advice.
All so what would be a good prop for the gt 80 and sukhoi.

a 24/10 for the gt80 . its a heavy engine that really lacks power for that size plane . for unlimited 3d a 100 110 is the tric pic for it . it will pull it out of a hover and that type of stuff . i power my planes on the extreme end of things so a little less that i think will be fine . i want to be able to flutter when i punch out of da hover
those are a sweet flying plane i don't own one but have flown one waiting for the 50% when i find a big enough engine

3W! or DA if you want...ZDZ80 is another consideration
1200
vs.
600
I would plan on the ZDZ because the DA and 3Ws could make a better home in planes such as the Wild Hare Extra...
3D = Extra or EDGE

Nice X-mas present. From what I understand the GT-80 will hover it with a little x-tra to pull out. The plane was designed around the GT-80. Here is a link to a review on that plane and engine combo

Have fun

P.S. I have one on my bench right now. Going to start putting it together right after the newyear

Well, if they bought it all new, return the GT80, and buy a DA100 or a zdz80. I have the sukhoi zdz80 combo, and its sweet, but with a DA100, its an animal!! Ive also flown it with the gt80 and it will hover, but not much pull out power, I honestly think you will be dissapointed with that engine if your looking to 3D it.
VIdeo's on my site below of the sukhoi and alot more!

Hey,
I am going to stick with the GT-80 for now. I am hoping that it will hover. Was that you hovering in the video. If it was I was just wondering why you let go of the throttle so quick. I all so saw a Sukhoi with a GT 80 and seemed to have a lot of power. It did hover and come out. Well I will find out.

Young man,
Trust this JohnVh...he has over seven THOUSAND posts here at RCU, and is one of THE experts on the Hangar 9 Suk you just recieved.
He is giving you EXELLENT advice and I would bag the GT 80 and get the ZDZ 80 right now, so that you get the MOST $$ for your GT 80.
You are going to have THOUSANDS of $$ tied up in this plane, and you are HOPING that it will hover. HUGE mistake. When you spend THOUSANDS on a plane/engine combo, you damn well better KNOW exactly how it will fly, not how it SEEMED to fly.
Watch all of Johns videos, you will learn allot. Don't be afraid to email John, he is very generous with his time and will help you more than anyone you know.
Good luck kid.

Well, Out of all of the research I have found the GT-80 is the best. I might just be 14 but I know R/C really well. If you get the right prop and stuff a GT-80 will work really well. And another thing ZDZ 80 vibrates more than the GT-80 and I hate those type of engines. A couple of people at our field has a ZDZ on there plane and everything vibrated out. I would get a ZDZ 80 but one thing. My mom and dad gave it to me for christmas. If they cost about the same then maybe I can get a trade in. But a GT-80 is a excellant motor for the plane.

You asked for advice...........You got great advice................And then you blew it off and are going to do the opposite of what the expert said to do. There is a reason the exspession YOUNG & DUMB holds true.

Im sorry sukhoi kid, but your 'research' was wrong. Where did you do this at? The ZDZ vibrates about like a big twin does, I have seen BME's that vibrate more. I totally understand your wanting to use what your parents gave you, and it will fly OK. But is not a good choice for 3D or pulling out of a hover with authority.
Have fun with it.

Maybe if you had TBM build it!!! JOHNVH is awesome, i love the vids...I mean the GT 80 wouldnt be horrible, but if you want unlimited ZDZ80 or maybe even a 3W 75TS...I hope everything goes well man...

Well see I am not really doing this mainly for 3D. A guy I know had a GT-80 on a Sukhoi and it hover well and pulled out great. The book really suggest a GT-80 or ZDZ 80. The only difference there might be is that I may not have as quick response for the GT-80. But I can hover a plane really well and can handle it. My parents on the other hand really doesnt want to buy another motor. They said later on in the year I can if this motor doesnt appear to work well. Then I can put the GT-80 on my Giant Stinger I have. We will wait and see. I may like it.

There is a HUGE difference between a GT80 and a ZDZ80! Like over 3hp! and the zdz is alot lighter and is cheaper. Anyway, if you want to get into extreme aerobatics, youll want to sell that thing. Its worth its most right now when its new. But, the plane will hover, but will not pull out of a hover with authority. But will still be fun to fly, unless your power hungry like all of us!
Have fun!

I am putting either a ZDZ80 or a DA100 in mine and I am crossing my fingers to have this thing going by April. If I have it up and running you can compare yours with the GT-80 with mine (ZDZ80 more than likely) if you come to Mac Hodges Spring Fly in. I am also lightening mine up a little with some custom modifications
so I dont know how fair the comparison will be.

Are you the guys that sold me the Pizza Box. If you are then that Pizza Box flies great. I love it. I can hover it and everything. It is really fun airplane. I really enjoyed it. I will let you know how the Sukhoi does.

the zenoahs are really heavy. like you, im around your age and i would seriously listen to these people. I have a Zenoah in my plane, but its "too much engine" for the plane, and thats the only reason it will hover and do all that. Power to Weight ratio is all what hoverings about, and the DA 100 is a very good choice. With the GT80, youll be "trying to get thru the hover" with the 100, you can make it look nice. by the way, youre going from a model tech magic to 33%?

They aren't like for 3D planes in my opinion. They are more of a war bird engine...just searched around and people put them in warbirds...jusyt my two
