Has anyone out there used a gas engine, such as a 3.8, on the Patty Wagstaff Extra? Has anyone used gas on a Dave Patrick Extra or Edge? (I know Dave does not officially sanction the use of gas)
If so, how is the performance, weight and your overall thoughts on the use of a gas engine?
Thanks in advance for the responses.

Geez,do a search on this plane and get all the info and more you ever wanted on this plane. As I remember this plane has the longest thread ever here on RCU.

I have flown it with a 2.4 and a 3.2
The 2.4 flies it good but would be poor for 3D
The 3.2 will allow the plane do to what ever you want or can do.

I have owned the DP Extra with a gas BME 44 swinging a 20x10 Mezjlik prop. I also have the the DP Edge with a glow MOKI 1.8 turning a 19x9 mezjlik. The gas plane weighed in the high 15lb range. The glow plane weighs in the low 14's.
Truly, engine performance is about the same. I think the glow engine edges out the gas on throttle response.
