I am thinking about buying a Moki 2.10 engine for an upcoming project. What do you guys using any of the Moki engines think about them and secondly, for those that own the 2.10, what plane do you have them on and what is the performance!!!

I have two Moki 2.10'S and I think they are great, one is in a World Models Extra 300 and the other in a Dave Patrick Edge 540T.
Be prepaird to spend a good deal of time breaking them in and make sure to buy stock in a fuel company.
I run both of mine on JAC fuel, 5% nitro with 18% oil, 80% syn. and 20% castor.
OS A-3 plugs, Zinger 20x8 Pros. prop. and Bission large vol. Pitts style muffler.
They both start by just bouncing the prop backwards and almost always on the first bounce.
Make sure you use large fuel tubing and a large clunk.
Without a pump you have to send them off a little rich or they will lean out at the end of the tank.
I was alway told that the more fuel you burn the better pilot you will become. Moki 2.10 = 2.5 oz. fuel per minute. I should get really good fast at this rate LOL

I like the Wildcat 5% syn/castor blend which I add a couple of ounces of castor per gallon. Had mine on the big Aeroworks profile and since I was not using full throttle much it got fairly good fuel mileage. Kyle is right about the break in, I bought mine barely used and it still needed several gallons to almost level out. After many more I still don't think its fully broke in cause it is still getting better.
The only downside to the engine I have found so far is the low speed disk geeting loose over time.

Mine's on a GP 1/3 Pitts @ 15#, 20x10 prop, excellent starter and runner. My choice for any aerobatic airplane under 20#. Never needed a pump, broken in through one gallon fuel, burned only Morgan Mach 7 with 5%nitro, 50/50 castor/syn, cost me $11.00/gallon delivered ups 3 case quantities direct from Morgan, likes fuel but it burns less than a Saito 1.80 in my club; never needed big fuel line, I sold the airplane to a friend who insisted on running more expensive fuel plus added castor and the motor wouldn't run with 3/32 fuel line, but it's his money.I had the low speed disk move on me twice; must have been the o-ring creeping-strange...JIM

I HAVE A MOKI 180 IN MY DAVE PATRICK ULTY MUST SAY IT IS TOTALLY UNLIMITED.
IT IS SWINGING A 18X8 ZINGER BISSON MUFFLER, LARGE FUEL LINE TO AND FROM ENGINE AND INSIDE THE TANK.I AM RUNNING 5% RITCHS' BREW STARTS ON 2 TO 3 BACK FLIPS EVERY TIME.MUST LET IT WARM UP AND THEN SET IDLE FOR AT LEAST ONE MINUTE.NEVER DEADSTICKS UNLESS OUT OF FUEL.
DAVE SAY 9.5 TO 10.5LBS BUT THAT IS A DREAM MINE WEIGHS 12.06 LBS. FLIES GREAT LANDINGS ARE VERY PREDICTABLE WILL DO ANYTHING AT HAVE OR LESS THROTTLE.
NO WEIGHT ADDED TO PLANE EVERY THING IN THE RECOMMENDED LOCATIONS BALANCED PERFECTLY.
DAVE RECOMMENDS A YS 140 BUT WOULD HAVE TO ADD WEIGHT TO BALANCE OUT.

lcgj, for now I just put a small tie wrap over the disk and around the carb body. There are two o'rings on the disk that hold it in place that can be replaced. I forget who it was but somebody wrote that they used a small spot drop of thick CA between the disk and the carb body to tack it in one spot to keep it from turning. Since the low speed disk so rarely needs adjusting this may be a good alternative to hunting up new o'rings.

To those having trouble with adequate fuel flow to their Moki with the BCM muffler, before you spend time and money and on a pump or regulator, simply try blocking off one of the exhaust outlets. My 2.1 runs great on 5% nitro fuel and STANDARD size fuel tubbing with one exhaust outlet blocked-off. I can get it slobbering rich (4-cycling) which by the way is a requirement for proper break-in during the initial runs.

I also used a zip tie on the idle disc - kept moving on my 1.8 (Bisson Pitts muffler, Menz 18x10). The engine ran great but had a noisy rattle sound at mid throttle settings. My Supetigre 3250 had a similar noise but was much less power/reliability. I sold 'em both and got 4-strokes. The rattle was/is a 2 stroke intake/exhaust note phenomena and is normal. Anyone else ever hear it?

I have a Moki 2.10 and I love it. I have always preferred gas or four stroke glow but I love my Moki. It runs on cheap 5% nitro and barely sips it compared to the Saito 180 I had. Power is Awesome, I have mine in a DP Edge540 and its totally unlimited vertical. To fix the idle disc, set it where you want it and put a drop of thick CA on it where the disc meets the carb let it dry and no more problem. If you ever need to move the disc which you probably won't its not hard to break loose that drop of CA.

I have a Moki 180 and it has more then 15lbs of thrust, the 180 has more like 19-20lbs of thrust and the 2.1 a little more. I am running mine on a Menz S 18 x 8 and (the prop for the motor) and a pitts Bison muffler and its awesome.
People THINK Mokis drink fuel, but what you don't understand is the Moki 210 drinks 2.5ounces per minute AT FULL THROTTLE The Moki 180 drinks 2.0 Ounces at FULL throttle. If you compare that then its really not even bad. I fly my Hanger 9 Edge 540 for 20 minutes on a 24 ounce tank and still have 1/4 tank left.

1.8 will not put out 19 or 20 lbs at higher elevations like 5000 ft more like 15 or 16 but you probly dont care. what do you think would 50 cc gas maybe.mokis do run good. Is 1 to 1 thrust enough to do harrier it must be.

I have the Moki 1.8 in my DP Edge and love it. I had the engine from another plane. If I was buying new for the edge I would have put in the MOKI 2.1 . These are great engines

I don't run wood. I have been through a few differnt props in search of nirvana. I like the Mezjlik 19x8 carbon fiber on my Moki 1.8. It spins up fast, never flexes, puts out great thrust, etc....
My friend runs the Mezjlik 20x10 on his Moki 2.1
