Well I am really impressed, I test flew my new Madness 2 today and all I can say is Awsome! It really is the best Fun Fly machine I have ever flown!
I flew the original Madness last August when I was in Germany, but the Madness 2 really is way better! Lighter and more fuselage area for improved knife edge, bigger and better ailerons for an unbelievably fast roll rate, and a really sweet colour scheme. I have flown many 3D fun fly models in the past few years but the Madness 2 really takes the cake!
Like most ARF's, there is always something we tend to replace or do differently... When assembling the Madness 2 I changed the supplied control horns and clevices to a stronger carbon fiber horn with Du-Bro safety lock linkages. The horns were self made from 2mm carbon fiber plate and attached with CA glue. No screws but a much larger base. I also used 4-40 rods for pushrods even though the supplied carbon fiber tubes would have been fine (I actually used these on my Synergy 90 3D...) I am not saying the supplied linkages would not have been suitable, But I just didn't want to take the risk. Everything else in the kit was really good quality. The covering is Very good, I did have to run an iron over some spots on the fuse after its first day out in the hot summer sun today but this was not a problem. I sealed the hinge gaps with a strip of clear tape. The canopy was attached with two strips of double sided tape on the inside and a red strip of 5mm auto trim around the outside to give it a more finished look. The double sided tape worked well as I could tape the canopy in place on the top then peel the backing off and stick it down. I also fuel proofed the firewall and bottom of the hatch below the engine as there did not appear to be anything in the form of fuel proofing done.
Flying was the best part, I started my new YS 63 FZ (yes - plenty of power!) and took off... strated a gentle climb to trim the model out... no trim was necessary, not a click! so I pulled it into a hover and started torque rolling the way back down the strip. This really is the easiest plane to hover!
I only had a couple of flights today as it started getting pretty windy but all in all it was a very sucessful day.
I reccomend the Madness 2 to anyone no matter how well you fly, it almost flys itself!
Happy flying for 2004!
Patrick

Yes, they sure are released! I am in New Zealand but I had to get mine brought over from Germany by a friend.
Email Alvin Braeckman at: [email protected] or visit his site for more information. www.braeckman.de He is in germany but he will be able to tell you how to get one in the states. His website is mostly in German but you can understand most of what it is about. Alvin speaks english better than I do so no problems emailing him!

My Feedback: (2)
NZ Sythe,
Just by coincidence, I contacted Herr Braeckman about the model. At this time, he is did not have an answer about distributorship in the USA. He is in charge of marketing for Germany.
However, he was kind enough to provide an answer to my question about the differences between the Madness and the Madness II. His answer is given below (direct quote)
higher fuselage (for better knife edge capabilities)
higher canopy (same reason)
larger elevator and fin
Shorter nose
longer fuselage
lower weight
Hopefully this will answer some questions that other folks on this thread will have...

It will hover for ever with the OS and the right prop, such as APC 12.25 x 3.75 or the 13 x 4
Mine is powered with a YS 63, OS F plug, Cool Power Pro Pattern 20-20 and APC 13x4W prop.
Hovers 1/2 throtle, unlimited vertical @ 3/4 throtle.
It is a Dream to Fly and the changes from the previous are worth the efford IMO.(I had the previous MADNESS also and flew it for aboub 1 year)
I bought mine from Mr Braeckman, excelent Service and Customer care!!!

Had the new Madness out again today! it is great fun to fly!
I added a couple of carbon fiber braces under the counterbalances on the elevators as they were showing signs of flexing. I also braced the tail with 3mm carbon tube, not that it needs it - It wanted to add a bit of tail weight so I thought I'd make the tail a bit stronger at the same time!
The YS is going really well, I would certainly reccomend these engines to anyone!
