Bill

I am chasing Carbon Copy on this... they have a lot of updates in the pipeline for the website and that will include the prices.

As for prices, I am fairly certain that since you would be exporting, the VAT would not be applied to their prices, which should mean that you pay the same as on the IH list.

Send an email to [email protected]. Copy the message to IH too.

For what its worth I do think, like Luke, that its worth it, but take care to compare like with like, the Flip and the Hype are 3D Fun Flys... not 3D Aero..... wing section is one of the the big diffs. C50 will do 3D and stalled manouvres but also fly nice pattern on the same set up. - I think you guys call it Artistic Aero !?

Another plane that may be closer to the Aero wing Capiche is the Pilot Seduction "Streamline" which is carried by Singapore Hobby (you have to email them for info). This costs $193.32 shipped to the U.S., so its not much cheaper than the Capiche. Unfortunately, there isn't much information about this.

Well I think I'm not going to buy a Capiche 50 after all. I can't purchase it from Island Hobbies and Carbon Copy hasn't answered my emails and I'm sick of waiting.

I am now thinking of buying a Hype based on the good things I've read about them. Otherwise a Flip is a possibility or maybe something from the Pilot Seduction series - like the new Streamline or the WildStyle. All of these planes are easy to get - even those from Singapore Hobby. I'd prefer a kit but am open. Any opinions? (as if there weren't!!)

If you get the streamline, let us know how it goes!

Building the Wildstyle at the moment. very easy to build . Perhaps 5 hours so far, just the bottom sheeting to go on the wing.

I have been in touch with Carbon Copy and they have apparently been trying to reply to your mail enquiry...

Is there a chance that your firewall / email server is set to block spam which might be blocking their mails, - it does happen sometimes - we get that problem too.

They are willing and waiting to help you... Meantime, I will forward your enquiry from here, get a reply and then send it back to you if you would like ?

I await your instruction.

regards

Archie,
Thank for your help!! Carbon Copy did email me. These are the prices they quoted:

Basic kit £133.66
Undercart upgrade £2.25
3mm direct drive £9.40
wheels £7.64
Not sure aileron horns?

packaging and shipping £40

Total at current exchange rate $364.91 plus aileron horns?

After all this, I've decided the Capiche is just too rich for my blood!

So now the Streamline is looking pretty good. The price of the Seduction Streamline including air parcel to US is S$325.40 or $217 in U.S. dollars. At almost $150 less than the Capiche, its looking pretty good. I'm still considering the Hype which is $230 plus shipping. Not bad considering its an ARF and is getting rave reviews.

Did you challenge Carbon Copy about export to exclude VAT ? - they look like VAT included prices to me !
Horns included.

As for the other models - as I might have said before, just remember that you must compare apples with apples in your pursuit of a chosen model. C50 and Hype for example are not in the same camp.

Good luck with whatever you decide, but as I say, CC ought to drop 17.5% off those prices - I think...

Hey Guys, been a while since I have posted in rcu, but the purchasing capiche appealed to me. I have been looking into trying a Capiche and as it seems price to import one is still too high. Seems as if the only way to make it economical is for Island to find a US distributor which would be no small task.

Billpen
I have a Seduction Freestyle and have loved every second of flying mine, by far the best plane i have ever seen and flown, in fact i had a friendly debate with these Capiche fans as to which plane is better. A smile is wide on my face now as i am aware for the first time that Pilot has an improved version of the Frrestyle. You can rest assured that you are going to be getting an incredible performer if they have improved the slow speed characteristics of the Freestye as it looks as if they have with the large increase in wing area. I can't believe it but I may have to retire my beloved Freestyle.

A good thing for all of us . . . . Freestyle, Wildstyle, Streamline, Capiche, Capiche Funfly, and Hype. Some wonderful planes out there now.

PS
Hope everyone has been doin well.

If you want a Capiche 50 but don't like the UK/US exchange rate, why not just but the plans and then have them made up by one of the US cnc kit cutters?
The plans, only, are on sale by Nexus in the UK - http://www.nexusonline.com/pages/nexusdirect.cgi - and you can get a canopy/cowl from them, as well [note there are plans on this site for two sizes of Capiche].

Best of luck

i'm getting pretty sick of US guys moaning about import prices, for once the boot is on the other foot and i'm loving it.
however after checking the Hype deal prices your STILL!!! getting it cheaper than us and the kit alone is only £10 more despite it being shipped all that way.
you got cheap EVERYTHING over there, quit *****in

philly,

C'mon now....no one jumped on your case when you started bellyaching

IMO you guys have done well maintaining a reasonable price for a lot of your products shipped to us, so forgive us for complaining about a ridiculousy high price for a kit we know nothing about.

You say its worth it....the only way to really know it to try it...but there will not be a refund it we are not satisfied.

O.k., let me spell it out for you. Why don't you guys get real, pick a few guys over here (preferably people with know reputations for having superior building/flying skills...and of course one for me for saying it first), give them the kit at a greatly reduced price, then have them tell us that its worth the hefty price. Can you think of a better way to advertise???

No, its not that I don't believe what you guys say about this plane, its just that I don't believe everything you guys are saying about this plane.

So gentlemen, what say you??? Like the idea....no???

Flip 3D - UK price £160, US price £128
Funtana - UK price £150, US price £95
UCD 60 - UK price £120, US price £105
9ZAP radio - UK price £860, US price £460 (TX only)
Coolpower 15% gallon - UK price £17.95, US price £8.20

As you can see we in the UK have to put up with high prices all the time, but we just get on with it. No wonder I now import more and more stuff. (my 9ZAP came courtesy of Tower and a friend)

note: US prices from Tower, except Funtana from Horizon. UK prices from Inwoods, except 9 Zap from Al's (cheapes I have found). Excludes US sales tax and all import duties etc. Exchange done at $1.8 = £1.

Sprink,

I expect to pay more, its not an issue.

Bottom line is that I will not pay $300+ for any 50 sized kit...

Island Hobbies has been saying for a long time that they are researching the possibility of getting a US distributor for the Capiche. What is the main hurdle in doing this? How about setting up a manufacturer here in the states? Seems like money would be a lot easier to transfer back and forth than kits.

There are a lot of planes over the pond that I'd love to see available here. I'm sure amny people here feel the same. Think of the extra business!

The sad part is that you can get a 25% edge 540 kit for about the same price as the 50 sized Capiche...

25% Edge - Mmm yes but size is not always everything.... its design quality that I will pay for first and with an ARF - weight.

Yes, but as always £250 for a $250 plane (25% version) [:@]. Anyway, you have to sheet the foam cores yourself. Don't think I could do that and not screw it up.[&:]

MAy try to get hold of a CA Models 24% Extra some time instead.

The exhange rates at the moment give our friends across the pond a bit of a hard time - this is the cause of the Hype 3D price increases in the US

But we get some great deals ....YS 63 £120 from Central hobbies!!!

Si. Only problem is we cant order direct from central H any more [:@]

The one time we get a good load of bucks to the pound and we either have to get someone to bring them over or suffer the wrath of you know who Counts me out then

Best bet would be for a group states side to order say 5 between them and pick them up over here. Same as we do!!! Would be cheap then
