Anyone point me in the right direction for setting up my new Hype3d??
On spoilerons and flaperons how much movement would you use??
Are there any pages out there that can tell me

I don.t have spoilerons set up on my Hype, but have about 25% flaperons. Start out with small amounts at a time and see how the plane reacts.

yes... most models can do a pretty violent blender... i wouldnt worry about it... and with only 1 wing bolt I'd expect to rip the wing off before the tail! .... should befine... Best results are normally using spoilerons. See videos at www.3drc.info .

on mine i just had max everything really.. The hype is one of those models that can make use of flapperons and spoilerons, however, i rarely use flapperons at all... on the hype I had about 40 deg aileron mixed with about 75 deg elevator deflection.. this seemed to be the balance that I like, however, I think everybody's different.
Generally with flaps and spoilerons IF you go for the same deflection on the ailerons as the elevator, then take about 15 degrees out of the ailerons, you should be in safe territory, just increase it as you like.
For hovering and torque rolling I found the hype to have better tail response if using flapperons.
Thanks for your comments too
Regards. Nathan.

Hey Gentlemen,
been flying my Hype now for a month or at least trying ( gail force winds and 3d aircraft don't mix ) and really was wondering if my servos are up to the job. At this stage i have got 3004's all over with a Hi Tec on the elevator but it just seems like with those surfaces i should be running some more hi torque servos. Also what pack is best. I have had a 6v 1000mha battery in there so far but i am aprehensive to fly more than twice without charging as my checker is flashin like night rider on acid. Just swithced to 2500 but obviously with a weight penalty.
Anyhow i'de be interested in your thoughts.
Oh and cheers Nathan the Hype was purchased on your advice.

3004s are ample on the rudder, and I used two on the elevators.. these are very strong servos. The best results i've seen on the ailerons were from Hitec digitals of ~6kg torque. I was never happy with the rollrate on my hype, and you only get what you pay for really.

Did you put the elevator servos right up the tail end ??
I am using 3001's and I found a s9101..is this any good for any surfaces??

In my standard hype i had the servos under the stab, in the hype pro they were in front of the stab. Wherever you can fit them. I have neither of them now or I would take a photo for you!

I think I may go that route for the Ailerons. like you say the roll rate is a bit slow which I find surprising seeing as the wing is basically a scaled up version of the Cougar wing.
How are those Hi-tec compared to Futabas, is there that much difference?
Also what do reckon on power?

good to use 5 cell battery pack to increase speed/torque.

Cheers Indy- Those 9001s are looking good. Just spoken with someone who reckons he's got some which he can let me have at a good price.
Tell me though, have you used normal servos in comparison?
And also your baterry, how many amps is it?

Started with S3003 on ailerons, S9001 on elevator and 8Kg GigaLine MG on rudder.
After a while felt that I need something more and being tight on budget I switched to S9001 on ailerons too.
This was major improvement as roll rate is much better and I think (might be subjective..)
that also there is better resolution.
All the time battery pack was the same, Sanyo AA Gold 1000mAh 5 cell pack.
On any plane I wouldn't go for less than 1000mAh and 5 cell.

No I agree 1000mAh is the min but it seems to me that even that is not enough. I have a brand new 5cell 1000mAh and the battery checker gives me two safe flights so I switched to a 2500mAh although I have not flown with it yet.
Weather pewrmiting we will see this weekend.
Cheers

To be honest, weather didn't premit flying for last month or so [&o]
but with temp around 15 C or higher I can get full flying day with single charge
on Sanyo.
I think anything larger than AA size would get too much weight penalty.
Maybe trying 1800 or 2000 mAh NiMh in same size would be better ?
Had them on Magic (nearly same servo setup) and they lasted forever.

Well mate it sounds like need to check out them batteries. But I think your right on the weight penalty side of things although the baterry is right up to the tank and I still have my cg 16cm back from the leading edge.
There is supposed to be fog here in England tomorrow so hopefully not too bad to fly.
We will see.
Cheers

Hmmmm.....I cycle them on SimProp Intelli Accu manager (aka Rimpax SuperNova)
after flying. On full flying day I take about 600 mAh of juice out.
So charged fully to 1050 mAh I have left some 450 mAh, I think that is good reserve.

Get that battery checker checked
I didn't trust mine so I did check several times with smart charger.
Seems to be that I was in ball park. Warning came at 300 mAh left
which is last ditch warning in my book.

I don't know about commercial ones.
I made mine from plans on Brent's page: [link=http://www.cliftech.com/]http://www.cliftech.com/[/link]
If you're cool with making smaller electronics projects yourself Hotchek is excellent.
