Is anyone planning on going to the TOC 2002 in Vegas this October? I have not made reservations yet, but am planning on going.
I thought it would be cool to have an RCU (unofficial or official) get together. We could either meet a the TOC or set up some sort of dinner meeting (or both).
Any thoughts?
Mike

Stick, Smallfly,
I put this post in "the clubhouse" too. Sideshow from the Bay area said some of the people from his club may be going down.
We were thinking about trying to put together a BBQ. Any thoughts?

Are tickets available in advance or do you just show up and pay admission when you get there? I'd hate to fly all the way to Las Vegas and then not be able to get in to see the event.

Hey there,
Since my cousin is going to be flying in it, my dad said that I could probably go. We haven't made any reservations for a hotel or a flight out there, but it would be cool if I could fly myself
. I have seen the tapes of the TOC, and it looks awesome, so I hope that I can go.

Whos your cuz? if you can answer of course!!
Ask if you can be a member of his ground crew guys.
Damn I would love one day at your flying field, with all these TOC guys.

FYI,
Desert Aircraft is the unofficial source for TOC info. Go to their website: www.desertaircraft.com to check it out.
I've e-mailed them a couple of times, and they have responded quickly.

Get in touch with the Sahara Hotel and Casino. They have special rates for TOC spectators and provide shuttle service to and from the field. I attended the 1999 TOC and had a blast. My friend and I were lucky enough to get pit passses from our friend Kirk Gray and hang with the pilots and crews. I believe our hotel accomodations were $55 dollars a night. I am definitely attending this year. I hear rumors that this may be the last one. There is no charge to attend the event, and plenty of room for all who want to spectate. In typical Vegas style, there are full service bars and lots of souveniers. If you have the chance, by all means attend! The competition, as always will be intense.

KNIFE BROTHER,
Where and when did you hear that this will be the last TOC? I knew that Mr. Bennett was getting up there in age, but I didn't know that the Sahara wanted to discontinue the TOC.

Mr. Bennet is very ill. He has been the driving force behind the TOC since its inception. It remains unknown whether or not the Sahara will continue the event after Mr. Bennet passes. I sure hope they will, and I wish the best for Mr. Bennet as he struggles with this illness. Certainly someone will step up and begin a contest with a large purse, considering the succes the TOC has enjoyed. We as aerobatic RC fliers owe a great debt to Mr. Bennet for starting this contest, as it has had a huge impact on the way RC aerobatics are flown today and the development of new technologies relating to giant scale aircraft.

Which would be the best days of the contest in your opinion?
