Is it possible or has anyone used a four channel micro receiver for gas planes? I have the Cirrus MRX4 with 1500 feet of range and for ultralight app. I'm thinking of using it. Though it is a single conversion it works great, and would be better for small 3D like the Mini 3D.
Thanks,
Jeremy

GWS are fine also and well, in UK very cheap. A single conversion 8 channel weighs about 16 grams, dual conversion maybe 17 grams.
Webra 6 channel receivers are quite good also.

Hitec has a super slim ultra narrow band 8 channel receiver that is very compareable to the smallest RX's out there.
Takes a standard DC Xtal etc etc for a very reasonable price!
I'd look at it first!

you will get hits on the feather if you are not careful. the best lightest ones I have are the 555, electron 6, slimline 8, an old 535, and an expert 6 channel (jr clone from horizon). they all work well. the expert is great, got it on hitec shift in my 72 powered ultimate. been in several planes, NEVER a glitch, very small. but the hitecs are no slouch, and service from hitec is excellent.

Watch out though. One of my old Hitecs had a prob with the case and moisture seeped in rusting the arial solder point.
But then again, could be me

I would also choose hitec super slim 8 channel dual conversion 22,5grams and quite cheap. I have it and never had any problems with radio interferance or something. There were problems with them before because tha antenne was too short(about 30inches) ,but now they are over 40inches and it's OK.

Great suggestions. You could prolly get away with the GWS which I believe is the lightest (plus, that micro crystal is soooo cute), however you're range will be restricted.
On my foamies, I use the H.tec electron 6 and remove it from it's case...range is not an issue.

Lightest, full-range RX that I know of is the Hitec Electron 6. I have one in my Magic Xtra. It comes with a bobbin to wrap your antenna around to reduce the outside length -- feature works great.
Lightest, full-range, with at least 8-channels is a toss-up between the Hitec Superslim 8 and the Futaba 148DF.

The lightest 4 channel full range I know of is the Berg Micro-stamp. It's only 7 grams. I use the Berg 5's which are about 15 grams with case for my Quickie planes as well as all my electrics. FMA has the Extreme 5 which is also an excellent Rx in the same weight range as the Berg 5 channel. A cool feature of the Berg 5 channel is that the 5th channel can be assigned to respond to either channel 5 or channel 6. Most computer radios use channel 6 for the second servo of dual aileron servos. It comes in real handy.
I wouldn't trust any of the GWS rxs or the Hitec Feather. They have proven prone to glitching at congested flying sites.

I am talking in the MINI 3D with the a OS .15 glow. Basically I am looking for the smallest lightest Rx and its system too. I want to fly in a small field down the street from my house, flying it like an electic 3D park flyer.
Crashed my Magic Extra 300l, really clipped the top on a mougle and took off the landing gear. Fixed it yesterday and flew 4 hours today. Sweet!!!

One thing you have to watch out for with these little recievers is that they are prone to swamping from other transmitters
Example- when you come into land and fly past another flyer at close range you get a massive glitch. Happened to me with numerous micro recievers that calim to have a "full range"(gws and others)
The schulze range of micro recievers are extremely good. Have one in my Discus DLG.
as good a reception as a normal standard rx.

we had a talk at my club meet from chris (i think) form [link=http://www.falconmodels.uk.com/]falcon models[/link]. they are th emaers of the 1.7g servo and reciever! Shame the reciver is an indoor short range one. The arial is actually heavyer than the actual reciever bit[&:]

FMA Direct M5 Dual conversion rx. Light, inexpensive, very tiny, reliable, and I have never had a radio hit. Great reciever!

Berg 5 and the FMA are both very light and seem good for my application. I was thinking of putting it into a MINI 3D, but I'm going to order a Menace Plus .15 from Mark Shope. This plane weighs 1lbs. 8oz. without fuel. Very light, and he says it will do anything. This system with HS-81 and the OS .15 should work perfect.
