Default Help. Need Thrust to weight ratio

Ok call me numb skull.
But i forgot the required Thrust to Weight ratio needed for unlimited vertical in a 3D aerobat.
Could anyone refresh my memory?
Also this is a GP Cap 232 .40 project. I have a OS .70 surpassll Four Stroke for it.
What Propellers are yall using for the best vertical?
Thanks

Best vertical performance normally comes from a long, low pitch prop. The .70 Surpass should easilly handle a 13X4, and that's where I'd start.

The .70 4-stroke is probobly going to have no problem with vertical performance on that plane... (unless you somehow make it 1 or 2 lbs overweight...)

Thanks a bunch FHHuber.
Yeah i have been following the posts on several RC forums.
And i have noticed a trend on this Plane as far as overweight problems.
Therefore i have been working Hard to avoid it.
What RPM should i expect to get swinging a 13x4 APC prop on this engine?

Will keep ya posted on the results.

Uhhhhhh...thrust to weight needs to be greater than 1:1 for vertical.

13-4? Where do you find one of these?

I 've run OS .70's for 15 years and they're wonderful on a 13-6 and 13-7 in most planes.

Buy a model rocket. Much cheaper, and Vertical is their specialty.

Their needs to be a 1:1.5 ratio. Meaning that if you had a plane weighing 5 lbs. then you would need to choose a motor with 7.5lbs of static thrust capability. If you notice the 40% size aircraft typically have a ratio of 1:2 or a bit higher. The .70 should be enough for a .40 CAP, just remember if your building it to keep it light as possible.
