Default Advice on engines

Hello all,

I am in the process of starting to stock pile parts for my Hurley Extra and want to get the inside scoop on engines. I am looking at the DA100, BME 105 or the Brison 6.4. I have not messed with anything this big yet and want to get some info on what works and what does not, I also plan on installing a smoke system, what do you guys recommend for the thickest smoke? Thanks for any help!

Well I don't know alot about big gassers so don't listen to me.

But I have heard that the DA100 has the best torque in its class. As for most smoke, doesn't that matter on the system more than the engine?

Ah well.

Hope this helps a little bit anyway!

I think that just about covers the smoke issue!, that looks great, I imagine it will be more intense with a twin cylinder.

Here is the order I vote in. Brison number 4. Just becuase I havent reall heard much about them. 3W 106 is number 3. I put it number 3 because they run very strong, when they are running. There are a lot of comments on how hard these engines are to tune and run. A lot of people like them but alot dont. Number 2 is BME. I pick the 110 over the 105 cause it makes quite a bit more power for the same weight and only 50 bucks more. You really cant go wrong with either one of them though. Both are as strong orstronger than the old 3w 100 and da 100. The reason I put them number 2 is I have heard a few customer service complaints and several people still dont have their 110 that they ordered last year. If i was to buy one, I would probably get BME cause they are more powerful, plus a lot of people dont like them or dont have them so I can get one and be different. I'M not worried about customer service on the phone, becuase if I have trouble ill just take it to Waco myself. Not a far drive. As far as being good at everything, DA is the way to go. They are like the cadillac. Very powerful and from what I hear there is no other company that has as good of customer service as DA. I think that is one of their big selling points. This is just my opinion. I dont have any personal experience with them but if BME went out of business, I would get a DA just becuase of what I have read on RCU.

I kind of prefer the BME just because of the looks but I also want the performance. Thank you.

fogot to add, its got an integral ESC for the pump so you can set it up so at high power it makes lots of smoke and as you ruduce the throttle it gets less dence.

few more facts:

No flow regulator required - control and adjust smoke fluid flow from your transmitter!

Accurate flow control with our injector will give you a much cleaner burn - less residue on your plane!

The Mega smoke smoke-pump is an easy-to-fit electric geared pump designed to fit all types of engines from the small glow engines up to very large Gas Burners including gas turbines and helis.

This is a long life, high volume geared pump. It has electronics that not only starts and stops the unit, it also has volume control, so that you can adjust the amount of fuel that is pumped into your engine's exhaust.

This means that you can adjust the flow volume from your transmitter on the ground. No regulator valves, no back pressure on the fuel valve, and no leaks.

We also sell a special fluid injector to maximize the fuel burn. The key to a cleaner burn is to accurately control the fluid flow and disperse it with a quality injector. This will assure you of a maximum smoke, cleaner burn, less wasted fuel and much less mess!

Megasmoke Smoke-Pump Installation

The Megasmoke Smoke-pump is easy to fit. Simply install the unit anywhere in the aircraft, and ideally as far away from the receiver as possible.

Now for the easy part the transmitter set-up, Just plug the pump into a spare compact 6-9.6v battery which can be as small as possible, a 250mah 6v battery and just fast charge every 4-5 flights. The other spare lead coming out of the pump goes to a spare channel on your transmitter.

Pump Specifications Smoke Pump
Weight: 4 oz.
Size: 85mm x 35mm x 35mm
Voltage: 6v to 9.6v
Max Flow: 32oz in 15 min

Accurate Flow Control Gives You:
Less Wasted Smoke Fluid With transmitter adjustable flow control you can minimize wasted fluid. This will allow you to extend the length of time or capacity of your smoke tank!
Less Residue Because you have reduced the amount of excess fluid you will get a cleaner burn on your smoke. This cleaner burn will reduce the amount of residue that adheres to your plane!

If your referring to the smoke pump..........sorry don't know were to get it in America. But pete tindal in the UK has it for about $110 ( rough conversion) and he would probably send it to America...............

No on line ordering but the email is at the bottom of the page.

My Hurley with a 3w-106.....had a bme 100 bought for the plane until I found out the engine was way too light for the airplane.
I have two Hitec 5945s for the elevators and a dig 805 for the rudder under the canopy. Has a mezlik 27x10 and has unlimited vertical. Original landing gear was weak and had TNT build me a thicker one. Thats my army son is holding plane.
