Hi
Ive just been on the Yamada engines site and ive noticed that there is two versions of the YS 63: the FZ63 and the FZ63-S. Ive noticed the S is slightly lighter and in the picture it has a slightly different fuel inlet thing on the front. What is this bit?
Apart from that is there any obvious performace differences? Im planning on using one of theese on my Capiche 50 and i want the best performance possible

My Feedback: (27)
YS moved the fuel regulator from the crankcase to the push rod area
they felt that on hot days the fuel would pickup too much heat and
possibly vapor lock . by relocating the regulator in a cooler area this condition
would not occur
I have the FZ version and on real hot days the motor does sag sometimes
and on cool days it just makes awesome power

ok, here in englad it we dont get too many hat days, tho last year we hit a record 100 deg F[8D] What sort of temp will it bog down and does it afect power much?

Hey Ian, I checked into this before getting mine & was assured that the S had absolutely no extra power and that as ballistic1 says the regulator move was purely to get it into a cooler position.Cant see it being a problem in the C50 with the motor hanging out the underside of the cowl like they do.

If they are the same price then personally I'd go for the S.
Yep Ian, it doesn't get too hot here but when it does go to 30 degrees C I reckon that last bit of power would be better.

Jimbo, im planning on hanging my YS on its side so i get the airflow from one cowl cheek and out the back (i got the open cowl). What do you recon on this and its cooling?

Well , you could fit it like that,but I just checked and the top of the engine would be sticking well outside of the cowl,defeating the object of the sideways fitting I think.

I have mine inverted with a hole just big enough for the head to pop out and another big enough for the silencer and have ZERO cooling probs...
I believe there is only extra power in the S for hot / humid conditions more likely in the USA... its not just about temerature heat but humidity aswell..
In other words you get a bit of power back lost by the existing engine at the top end under extreme temp conditions...

Both of us got a Capiche 50. Mines not built yet but Jims is flying. great quality kit and the original had a YS in it so ive opted for the YS

I've got a Freestyle (Freestyle models) so don't fancy going the Capiche route but it does look like a great model. Toying with a Madness2 but SWMBO doesn't like the colour scheme. Doh!

It's not a lot of model for the money. I would definitely have gone for the Capiche if it was available at the time. I wonder how they compare?

I know the Capiche inside out - Im part of the Island Hobbies team... I have not actually FLOWN the Freestyle, but I have flown the Maj 1400 on which it is based, and I have seen the model being flown by Simon Clayton - a VERY good pilot.
I think it is heavier than it could or should be, certainly heavier than advertized. I think the wing section is fine for what it was originally designed - reasonably quick aero, not good for slow stuff. Basically its a Maj 1400, bit lighter, with bigger surfaces.
The C50 is much more like a mini toc model... and I think there would be very little difference in time between getting a C50 kit to flight ready and the freestyle flight ready believe it or not... check out the website for more info www.flycapiche.co.uk

The freestyle did take a lot longer to get in the air than I anticipated. Almost ready to cover? Ha. As if!
I must admit that the C50 does look great but I'm gonna stick with the freestle for now. (I actually stuffed the freestyle today
. Elevator landing and the motor quit. One very empty tank, not even a drop in it - doh! Fortunately it is just the wing mounting plate that needs fixing back in. We live and learn). On a brighter note, my grlfriend (the boss) has just said I can have the Madness 2 for my birthday

found anoother thing about them, they got no liner! how does that work lol. this sounds odd to me, anyone explain why they did this?

yeh, thats wot i ment. they, how dothey do all that things were they usually have slots in the liner???? or is the fuel directed strait into the top of the cylinder??

ys said they did away with the liner for better heat transfer......they also moved the pump reg for better cooling....?????? time will tell.....I think the engineering department needed to justify their job's ....LOL .... if it work's .....it aint broken.....JW
