Default Rolling circle Help

How do I start the rolling circle?
Do I use High rates? Low ?
What is the best way to learn this when there is nobody at the feild that can do it?

Default Rolling circle Help

First off you should have your slow rolls down pack . There should be total control of the aircraft in every attitude of the roll.
This will require multiple stick inputs at certain points of the roll.

I tried to answer this question in a priviest post. look back in my pm for the subject.

If you put in Rolling circles in the search box you will come up with some really good info from previous posts.

Default Rolling circle Help

sal98 said it best with his post my reply would be to also add:

G-2 by Great Planes to that and you will have the stick imputs down very soon. As you must be able to know what rudder to push for every angle along with whcih elevator to push/pull for every angle...

Ps this moves seperates the men from the boys along with the rolling elevator/harrier

the 1st quarter of the circle is the same thing that has to be complteted 3 more times.

wring it out volume 3 has Dave Patrcik covering the roller at the very last 10 minutes of the tape with a bipe as they have such a strong rudder and you don't have to fly fast for them to the rudder to be effective......

You first need to be able to do slow rolls with the proper rudder inputs. Then start flying around in a circle. At a comfortable point in the circle (probably when the plane is flying away from you), do one quick roll then keep flying in the circle. Keep flying the circle with one roll and try to force the plane into the circle and it rolls. Visualize the circle and force the nose to follow it using the rudder and elevator. I think it's easier to make a big circle and roll slowly.

Depends on how nice of a rolling circle you want to do.

If you just want to roll in a circle and your roll rate is not too high try this.

Master a rolling line first. Hold full aileron at medium throttle and coordinate the elevator so you can keep the plane rolling as it follows a straight line. You'll just have to time the up/down and keep the stick burried at full aileron (low rate). Now do the same toward yourself. That shouldn't take too long.

Now do the same but slightly alter the timing of the elevator so there is some up elevator when the plane is upright and banked into the circle and some down when the plane is inverted and banked into the circle.

This is a fast way to learn but you won't get a smooth circle, you'll need to add in the rudder for that. If your not planning on competing and just want to roll in a circle, it works.

One useful hint. Practice it in BOTH directions from the start. Personally I was really good with anti-clockwise circles but when I had to do them in the opposite direction it took me a while to work out the right rudder combinations. Everyone above is correct. You can quite easily do a non-precise elevator aileron rolling circle but they are not controlable, you cannot slow them down to say a one roll rolling circle. A pattern or IMAC rolling circle is really just an extension of a slow roll, the same imputs are used but just at each stage but really you can only learn by flying. Good luck.

Default Rolling circle Help

one word g2. i have been flying for 2 1/2 years andd i can fly fairly well. i can perform nice rolling circles down low and can now change directions of the roll at will.people are blown away with the short time i have been flying to my skill level. when they ask how i got so good i tell them all the same thing,g2. you can be as brave as you want and keep making the same mistake over and over until you start to get the right inputs. first practice clean slow rolls.once you can do them nice and slow then you can start with your first cheeter circles. these are done by pulling and pushing on the elevator on each knife edge section. pretty soon you will be bumping your way around. also i have been helping some friends and everyone has trouble with the last quarter. be carefull you can get in trouble here and get out of control. i havent been flying long but i have hundreds of two to three hour setions on the sim. working on different skills. cant say enough about sims. also learned to torque roll on the sim. and can now torque roll my 35 % extra on the deck for as i want. have to go now and practice rolling harriers on the sim. hope this helps. good luck
