I had the Merlin, and was surpisingly crap. [:@]

Only good thing about it was it was light weight. You need to enlarge the rudder and elevators to get anything out of it. Even then only really good for slow flying in tight spaces and a bit of prop hanging.

Merlin here flew sideways, no sign of warped fuz or anything. the Panther on the other hand, PORPER BO!!!!! beaten only by the Cougar, and thats ONLY for the speed and hanging and rudder advantage, the Panther is far better at slow agility!

for cheap 3D with KE etc, i'd have a look in the Magic Extra direction, or better still, Wildcard which will share the Capiche gear and engine.

IF getting the Wildcard, strengthen the fuz around the wing seat. A friend of mine ended up with two wings and no fuz [:@].

At the end of the day, if there was a "cheap" alternative to the C50, don't you think it would be popular?

i still don't think the Panther or Cougar will 3D, but it depends on what you want from the term 3D. Capiche style 3D you need a deep fuz and rudder, prophang you want a Cougar and leo37sf, agile close slow floaty flying you want a Panther with a Leo sf again.

only thing the panther wont do is anything which requires side area, but, heres what itll do for me

flatspins either way up

climbing flat spins both ways up

prophang

torque roll ( im still learning this one! )

harrier

blender

waterfall

it will knife edge if its going fast enough, but this isnt really what its meant for, and the coupling is immense!
