Hello all,
I've been out of the hobby for about 13 years so there are some terms that I just don't understand. First of all is 3D, I've seen quite a bit of video and I assume this is the type of flying where the plane seems to be almost weightless and can hover among other amazing maneuvers. Also what are the 40% planes? They appear to me to be the planes used to perform 3D flying but what does the 40% designate? Does this have to do with the power to weight ratio or wing surface area?
Thanks for any info you can provide a returning "rookie"

Any percentage you see is going to be scale. 25% is quarter scale, 33% is third scale and so on. 40% is about the biggest plane most people get into and usually have around a 120" wingspan. Lots of fun to fly too

The term3D has been defined on here several ways. My favorite is what Quique calls it.
"flying beyond the stall"
13 years ago I had only been flying a few years. I remember a 1/4 scale looking huge compared to what I was flying. Now my 1/4 scale looks like a toy next to a 40% bird.
