Dual elevator servos, moved to the tail, enlarged the rudder 5/8" and made it pull pull. 77oz torque servos on the rudder and ailerons. Standard for the elevators and throttle. .91FX, and I haven't figured out which prop I like best yet.
Yours look great! Did you have any trouble with that thin sheeting on the wing? Mine has a few patches where my finger went through form picking it up carelessly.

How did it do with the 150? I'm vertical crazy, and I'm thinking about going bigger on mine. A guy at the club put a 180 on his, but lost it in a dive. Vertical FOREVER, but too nose heavy to be a really good aerobat.

What the heck, here is mine. Powered by a GMS76 I also used dual elevator servos and the other goodies. It flies excellent but it's a little heavy at 8lbs 8oz and a little under powered. I am considering swapping the motor to a Saito 100 or 120 so I can do a little 3D with it. The GMS76 will hover and torque roll it but it takes every click of throttle she has to hold it there...
BTW, anyone looking to build one of these might be interested in this detailed step by step thread with pictures of mine as I built it.

That pic took me a while to figure out! I was looking at the other stuff in the pic and everything seemed wrong. Then I noticed that the celing in the wall on the left and that the plane is hanging from the wall and the picture is turned! TRICKY!

Well the tail is complete. I enlarged the elevators by about an inch at the widest point. I just tapered it into the original size of the side of the elevators. The rudder also has has about an inch added to it at the base of the rudder. Like the elevators it is just tapered into the original size at the top.
Its getting there!

Just sold mine and miss it, but have another kit started. I lightened mine (swiss cheese) and it came out at 8 lbs with a Saito 120. Unlimited vert but wing loading was still high. Should be about about 7.5 lbs. Snappy, I think due to the wing loading.
I lengthened the fuse 6" on the new one in hopes to make it more stable. Tip: make the elevators bigger for 3D.

What's the tank size matter? Unless your measurement is wet and if that's the case then it's pretty light.
Mine is 8lbs 8oz and that's with a dry 14oz tank and a 1100 mah Nicad...

Hey I picked up a used OS91 FS today for, can you believe this, $35 with an aluminum spinner. I am going to swap that with my current engine, a GMS76, but I want it to hover. I was going to get a Saito 100 or 120 but for that price I wasn't passing it up.
Why won't yours hover with this engine? What prop are you using? I thought this engine would hover it nicely just not be a real powerhouse at pulling out...

Hey SirSid....I was going to reply sooner, but got onto other things. NICE PLANE!!!
It reminds me highly of my GP 40 size EXTRA(the one in my Avatar). I put a 4-stroke .91 in mine. I can't get enough of it. I fly the heck out of it. Weighing in at 6lbs 4oz, it's absolutely unchallenged vertically. To make it stop climbing I need to throttle back to just a few clicks above idle. Hovers decently at a bit less then half throttle(I've been working on it
). Tumbles like no tomorrow
. Knife edge all day long, slow or fast. It flies better then I do. I'm sure of that. I love the plane. This is my second one(first one identical scheme), I liked the first one so much(didn't have enough time to get to know it before it went in due to mechanical/structural failure), I ran out immediately and bought another one, and built it with upgrades. No problems with EXTRA #2, going strong for almost a year now, I'd say 100 flights at least.
I was surprised when someone brought the 60 size to our field, and the size difference between the 40 and 60 is not all that different. Although the 60 has a bit more fusalage area, and some features I'd really like mine to have. The 2 planes side to side, you have to look closer then I thought you would to tell one size from the other.
You did a fine job with the plane though. I'm sure it flies as good as it looks too.

Well I got that motor mounted and I'm ready to fly it. I put a 14x6 APC on it because that's all I had however I'll probably go to a 15x6 in the future. I tached it at 10k with the 14x6 APC but would prefer to get it down around 9.5k rpms.
Out with the GMS76 in with an OS91 FS and I saved 5oz too.
This is probably the best picture I have of my Extra. Follow this link to a full size image: http://www.********.net/extra300/dcp_0503.jpg
