Default YS63s & 3styla

I've got a spare YS63s after a mid-air with my Laser3D and I am now looking for a new plane to put put it in, do you think the 3styla will be ok with the YS, will the air frame be strong enough?

I just test flew my new demonstration 3styla with a 63 tonight for the RC World team.

I notice youre from ellesmere port... if you want to see mine fly i'm about 20 minutes into wales.. will be flying it tomorrow night.

Its f******n awesome on the YS.. quiet and torquey... and by far my favourite plane ever! If you want to talk to me about it PM me for my number.

so I take it should fly ok with the YS then! did you have to strenthen the airframe?
I do live in Ellesemereport and am a member of the Heswall MAC like your self (small world aint it).

Leigh walbutton is it?

No i didnt have to strengthen the airframe but I would advise full span webbing on the wings.. i have left every rib except 1 either side webbed. The YS 63 isnt really much more powerful (just more torquey!) than the irvine .53 or ASP .52 that ive used in the past so you dont need to worry too much. I use Futaba 3004s all round on mine, theres definately no need for more except perhaps for the rudder.

sure is a small world mate!

going to get a 3styla at woodsprings this weekend, will you be there welsh3d, been thinking of putting a west .36 in it. Would like to see yours if you're there. May also consider the irvine .53, what do you think about these two.

I've seen naths fly on an Irvine 53 and YS 63, both were awesome. The 50 west will give it some real power!

These planes really are one of a kind when it comes down to 3D.

Ok how much are we talking for the kit and all the bits? I went to RCWorld and its not clear whats in the kit and whats not. I'm not bothered about carbon bits just grp will do fine. It'll be 3010s all round and a West 50t1.......

Can you convince me its better than a Hype, or more fun than a groove will be? And what about the YT stuff? I know you guys demonstrate them but I'd appreciate some honest feedback!

Yeah I went and looked. What the heck is all the other stuff for? I don't understand why you wouldn't just put it together in a package.

BTW, how much is the kit pack or whatever in american dollars?

The kit contains glass U/C, FG cowl and a plastic canopy plus all the wood and plans for £79. They sell all the other stuff seperately as spares ithink.

Now I would love to be at woodsprings I really would! but i'm off to spain for my summer chill so I can't go.

I've always said it was better than the hype in my opinion. everyone in my club who has 3stylas agrees. however, the Hype is more sedate to fly, a little easier for a novice 3d flier if you wish, more floaty and a lot more draggy... but the 3styla can do so much more.... its one of few models ive seen that can do a 540 stall turn! Surely some of you saw mine at weston park and wings& wheels, the knife edge spins and waterfalls are awesome, some of the most predicatable i've seen.

I haven't flown the new YT stuff but I would guess that the 3styla has the edge over the 3D side of all of them because of the surfaces on them. it's certainly not bad at freestyle stuff too, itll snap reasonably cleanly, good roll rate etc.

All I can say really is that if I didnt fly for RC World, I would still definately have a 3styla in my hangar!

Is the method of building simular to the capiche? as in click click? I do prefer the laser cut over CNC though!

hats good then, capiche has sheeting as well but I really want one of these.

I spoke to one of the RCWorld people about its harriers, he mentioned they tried it with no tips and it wing rocked like hell but when they put them back on, no wing rock, I can see he aint lying because i seen it harrier rock steady and not too slowly as well, which is good. After my indoor 3d ill DEF get one of these! for the price its excellent.

shahid, how can you say you perfer laser cutting to CNC cutting. 1. youve only built a CNC cut model and 2. they both do the same quality cutting (laser a bit better i would have thought). like, there both controlled by a PC so if you plug you drawing into a CNC cutter, then a laser cutter youll have the exact same bits of wood in your hands!

Yup, but I looked at the parts and they were beautifully cut, with CNC blasa can some out a little frayed but there were no such probs here, plus, the cut had them all ready to build in a little plastic wallet thing holder thing. Dunno where ill get the money for this but Ill think of a way

Nathan, thanks for the reply. Its not clear on the website that everythings there for the £79. I'll give it some thought.

BTW I would hardly call what I was doing with the Hype 'sedate'! I destroyed by first one in mid air, upto which point it would take full power blenders and full power inverted flat spinning and more besides!

edited for Nathans benefit [:-]
