I wanted to get started in IMAC and Possibly 3D. After much research I have decided on the AW 60/90 ARF. I have scanned all of the threads and made some decisions and have some questions as follows:
1. I plan to use an OS 1.08
What Prop should I use?
What type of in Cowell Muffler should I use or can I use the stock muffler?
2. I plan to use 2 Hitec HS255 on the elevator, positioned in the rear as per the updated on AW's web site.
I plan to use 4-40 rods on these, what type of cleveses and servo arms do you recommend?
3. I plan to use a Hitec HS 625MG on the rudder(94ox torq at .15 sec at 6 Volts).
What servo arm should I use?
Is the pull pull system with the Kit ok?
4. I plan to use Hitec HS525MG(57oz torque .13 sec at 6 V) on the alerons.
What pushrod/clevase do you recomend?
5. My radio is a Hitec Eclipse 7ch.
6. I plan to use a Hitec HS 81 on the throttle
7. Should I replace the factory gas tank?
8. I'll buy a pilot, scale inst pannel, and wingbags from AW.
9. I will be installing tail wires.
10. I will start with the CG at 4" and slowly move to 4 1/4".
11. I will run a 6V 1000 mha rcvr pack with a safety switch 5.7V regulator.
12. What Have I left out? What else would you do? What would you do different? It there anyone out there that has flowne a 60/90 with a OS 1.08?
PS: I have a greatplanes 40 Size ARF with a Saito 100 on it, talk about overkill

for IMAC flying. This bird is great for 3D, but would not be the best IMAC bird in my opinion.
I'd look at a Goldberg Extra, World Models Extra, or the Kangke Cap 232 (This may be a bit big for your engine choice). Your options really open up with the purcahse of a OS 1.60 instead (GP 1/4 Giles, WM Extra, Kangke Cap, DP Extra, Carden 26 % Extra).
The Edge is on back order as well........
Just my thoughts......

The plane will fly IMAC sequences but I would recommend a larger plane. With that engine, try a 1/4 scale model. It will get you through basic. If you are going to fly sportsman or intermediate, then you may need a bigger engine.

I love building but time limits me to an ARF. My budget will not allow me to go too large, I wanted to try my hand with a 120 or smaller size plane and if all went and IMAC seemed like something I wanted to continue to do I would then make the big investment to a 29% or larger gas powered plane. I would defnately go larger before I would attempt to go beyond basic. I have researched and thought the stall characteristics of the edge would be better for me. I liked the AW 60/90 or the following reasons:
2 peace wing(I have a small car)
Option for elevator servos in the rear
I already have a Saito 100 in a 40 size Great Planes Extra ARF(now thats overkill) that I could use but I am leaning tword the OS 1.08
I also like the Six Extra 300XS with Saito 180 or OS 1.6.
I have heard several bad reviews about the Hanger 9 Edge, but mostly positive things about the AW edge.
I haven't flown the 40 Size Extra with Saito 100 yet, Do you think it will be ok?
Do you think the AW 60/90 would get me through basic and prepare me for a 29% or larger Edge?
On a side note I am building a hanger 9 Pizzaz with a saito72 to learn 3D on.
I am still on the learning curve, so any input would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks in advance

You did good buying a pizazz. I have one it flys great!! The 60/90 should get you ready for the 29%, which should actually be easier to fly because it is bigger and bigger = more stable. you cant go wrong with a 29% aeroworks edge with a BME 44 on the nose. Make sure you get good with that extra and pizazz before you try to fly a 29% and get plenty of help from other club members who have flown this type of plane. Also, a 108 sounds great for the 60-90 edge. Hope my $.02 helps! happy landings!

dntmn,
I have an OS 1.08 on my AW Edge and it flies great. I put the two servos in the tail, the rudder servo in the back tray and the battery pack just behind the rudder servo. It balanced at 3.75". I used a pitts style muffler on the 1.08.
Later,
Craig
