Default Freestyle Rush....Does Everything....Why buy a big plane??? VIDS

Here are some vids of my YT International Freestyle Rush. Does everything a big plane does in a .40 size plane. Puts my Funtana to shame. NO WING ROCK in an elevator. Check it out!

Nice Flying!
Tell us a little more about your plane, where did you get it, power servos CG is it dynamically balanced, etc. I like the way it hovers nice and solid the harriers seem very stable too, it looks like it tucks a bit to the belly when your knife edging it though but thats normal..

The video really does not do the plane justice. I have been an observer of this plane being flown.

The plane gives you confidence just watching it. In a slight headwind it drops vertically with the ailerons up and elevator applied. You might saty no big deal, but it also stays rock solid and does not advance. Only my fun-fly machines with monter crow would do that!. No dutch rolling or heading deviations. It continually tempts you to land it at the bottom of the Harrier. I suspect that many of you will over-do this maneuver.

The hover is simply less work. Much like teh DV it has a liking to being pointed up. Flat spins are fun to watch. It will do much more but I don't want to give Tumbler all of my secrets :-) (VBG)

Great Job Tumbler. You do an amazing job of making that plane look good, and good on you for sharing your set up so openly.

Default RE: Freestyle Rush....Does Everything....Why buy a big plane??? VIDS

built the Rush in 2 evenings and had it ready to fly on the third day. I am using an O.S. 50 SX, 13-4 APC(not the wide blade though) and 20% fuel. I used all the stock hardware with the only modification being that I installed the rudder servo in the tail and abandoned the pull-pull. In retrospect, it might have been better to install the elevator servo in the tail as well, as I still needed to add 2 ozs of lead to the tail to achieve the tail heaviness I needed for 3D. The recomended CG is 110mm back. I balanced mine at about 125 or about 5 inches back for the first flight. It required quite a lot of rudder to knife edge, would not flat spin, and would not do a wall. I added 2 ozs to the tail and it is now perfect! I am now balanced at 5.5 inches back or 140mm. I think between 5.5-6 inches is the ideal and will be moving mine back just a hair more to get it to really "pop" up in a wall. Amazing that no matter how much I move the CG back, it never gets touchy on the elevator and lands just as easily. I Hardy have to breath on the rudder for knife edge, walls are better, waterfalls are end over end, inverted is almost hands off, slow rolls and point rolls are effortless, and flat spins and blenders are easier. The weight also helped with harriers. With about an inch of up aileron mixed to the elevator, this is one of the most stable planes in a harrier I have flown...........and its only a .40 size plane!! Very easy to hover and torque roll I have 60 degrees elevator travel, 50 on rudder, and 30 on the ailerons and 50% Expo on all surfaces. Basically this plane has the 3D capabilties and handling of a foamy but precision qualities of a pattern plane. It flips around like my little foamies but then does a 4-point roll like a 2 meter pattern plane. I couldn't have asked for a better combination.

Now flying with a Saito 82 and 14-6. Better for 3D but the 50 was better at pattern stuff.

I would like to know more about the plane like the website you go to to order it and the price. Also do you have any special type of mixing or programming features in the radio like spoilerons?

I found a link to the manufacturer's site in the UK. I don't know if this is where Tumbler got his from or not.

http://www.ytinternational.co.uk/main.htm

Also found another thread concerning the Rush here on RCU.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Free...1774991/tm.htm

Hope this helps.

By the way, those are some Mad Skillz ya got Tumbler.

I got mine from Cheetahrc.com in the US. I think it was like $180-90.

I do have spoileron mixing in it. Its a little less than an inch of up flap mixed with up elevator and down flap with down elevator. With this set up, harriers are mre stable that my 33%ers. Also I am 2 inches behind the CG which helps. I don't have anything else going on thats out of the ordinary.

664kix,

Yes sir, Tumbler is a.k.a. HOLLYWOOD! haha. How did you know that. I have known Kohler for a few yrs. We fly at the same field.

JuniorPilot,

I can tell you what servos I am using but mine are total overkill. I have JR 4721's on the rudder and elevator. Waaaaaaay more than you need. Because I fly mostly giant scale and have mostly high torque servos laying around. The ailerons have Standard Hitecs.
I am using a HS-81 micro on throttle. I have another Rush on order for a backup and I am just going to use Hitec 605's all the way around. I have a 2 cell 200 lithium and 6V regulator for the battery and get 20 flights safely...........thats sick i know....haha.

Tumbler,

I know you from the infamous "hobby shop". I spoke with you on the phone once. I know Kohler pretty well too. I have to ask, is he still the "story teller". Does he still fly? How about that stance! LOL. Nice chatting with you.

Ryan,

I never heard the nickname "story teller" for Kohler, but its not like I can't see where that came from.

I watched him fly at the Joe Nall this year............the "stance" was in full effect!!

I now have him torque rolling foamies.............I will turn him into a 3D guy yet!

Hey Also how many servos do you need? I was looking at these servos and wondering how many i needed, and I went to the Cheata hobby shop nothing nor the YT site. These are the servos http://www.greathobbies.com/scart/pr...umber=FUTS3010 a micro on throttle would be good and I was goign to go with a saito 80 and li-ions if i can afford it after the "major" purchases if not then I will just use a nimh!

Juniorpilot,

You need 5 servos total, including the trotle. I checked out those servos. They will do just fine I am sure. You need 4 of those and the micro for throttle.

I would suggest also you run two 2-56 rods off the pushrod dowel so the pushrod goes to both elevator halves rather than just one side. If you do it like the instrauctions and plan on doing serious 3D like a wall or waterfall, the side without the pushrod will always lag behind. I put the servo in the tail for the rudder because it needed a lot of tail weight.............and it was easier than the pull/pull.
