Default Tufflight 4D??

Hey was just wondering about this plane. I just happened to see this plane in the forums.Went to their website and seen what it was. Is this plane any good and anyone have experience with the new 2.0 profile version? 112$ ain't too bad, but does it fly well?

Might help to include a link to it. I've never heard of it.

It doesn't fly too bad from what I read on the net. But flutter is a big problem. Just curious in what it was.......

Ive built and flown one. It flies really well. Rolls are axial, knife egde is great, loops could be better, but hovering is nice. Havent had any flutter yet, and weve got a supertiger 75 on the front. An os 46 will hover it, but at 7/8 throttle. We wanted pullout power. Overall, we are happy with it. Jeff

Flutter is a big problem on all 3D planes unless you use a low pitch prop and keep the speed down. The large control surfaces are easy to flutter.

The 4D has a full flying elevator and rudder-no fixed surface. This will give you lots of control, but is also easy to flutter. Sort of, you don't get something for nothing. If you want to fly 3D planes, you will have to learn to use the left hand and keep it slow. Watch the 1/3 scale and larger acro planes. You won't see them flying fast.

So do you think it's worth the 112$? I want something to learn hovering besides the sim. Is this a good trainer plane?

Do a search here for PQHOR, its a spad, way cheap, it will get you where you want to go. It flys well on a 32, more power, better...

If you're on a tight budget, the SPADs are hard to beat.

We borrowed a lot of SPAD technology for the 4D. However, because we use EPP for the wing, you end up with a much lighter loading ( 4.5 lbs at 760 squares for a 40 size motor).

The 4D flys a lot like the better balsa 3D ships, and better than most of the heavy "3D ARFs" now lumbering around.

I believe Ed's doing a revew for R/C Report magazine, right Ed? We're looking forward to seeing it. He's in an excellent position to compare fun-fly 3D planes as he's flown a lot of them, and gives the "straight talk" in RCR.
