The designer used a 91FX without a pipe in the plane he demo-ed at Joe Nall. Seemed to fly well with that. I have a YS FZ91 on the shelf that's destined for mine. Right now I think I'm on target to be under 7lbs and I might see if I can find some CF gear to shave off a couple more ounces.

CF Landing Gear...
Hi,
I just received my Widebody 60/90 and I check the original Landing Gear vs a Moose CF Landing Gear for a GP-.40 Cap 232 that I all ready have and it is real close; about 3/4" narrower and 3/8" taller, I think this differences are nothing to worry about and I will use it on mine

In the process of building mine now. I just took a pic of it on the scales (threw all the remaining stuff on top!). I am doing several mods to mine. I don't know if it needs it, just trying it. Doing all I can to keep the weight down, but it is not working! The plane in the pic is 6lb and 4 oz. Lacks covering and a couple more things that will just be a few oz. Looking at probably around 7 and a half. Putting a Saito 100 on it.
Well, can't get the pics to post. I can't figure out how to make them a 700 x 700 as required by rcu. I can build planes but not use a computer!
If you want to see them, send me an email and I will send them to me or tell me how to make them smaller to post on here. I am using XP Pro.

What mods have you done? I've only done two things thus far, both of which are fractions of an ounce. I added two small pieces of triangle stock to each end of the landing gear plate and put CF strips on the wing and stab to reinforce it (my balsa sheeting seemed thin in a few spots). Otherwise, it's as supplied.
I've considered trying some CF landing gear, but the aluminum gear is rather light (120g), so the weight savings are small. I'm going to wait and see if I'm nose heavy before buying any CF gear.

Retracts in a Widebody??
Yes,... I've looked at the photos, website, and all the info I could access; and I definitely like the looks of the Widebody 60. Even have a Y.S. 91 looking for a good home. However I just can't get over the landing gear sticking out in flight.
Anyone give any thought to modifying the Widebody kit for retracts?? Do the foam wings come already sheeted?? If not it should be an easy modification to install retracts?? Any thoughts or suggestions??
Sincerely,
Steve

The wings do come presheeted buy you should still be able to convert the plane. I am very happy with the building process of this kit. It is the best laser cutting that I have ever seen.
My only issue is the cowl does not even come close to fitting. It is just to short. I am just going to cut off the bottome of the firewall to make it fit, it will not effect anything.

The wings are presheeted with 1/16" balsa and are not reinforced (no wing tube, no spars, no CF) and I'm not sure you can effectively reinforce it without gutting the wing panel.
Great kit, BTW...I've been on business travel much of the past month and haven't had a chance to finish mine up, but I hope to get back to it in the next week or two.
I did wind up with 2 right wheel pants and my cowl doesn't fit either, but that's the fun of building, right? I've got a replacement wheel pant on the way and I'm still figuring out the best way to mount the cowl...it's not off by much (a 1/4" or so), so it shouldn't be too hard.

Widedody tips for Construction
I'm building one Widebody 60, and I will appreciate your inputs
My main concern is to keep it lite for 3D
CG questions:
Is it tail heavy?
Can I mount one mini-servo or better two at the tail for elevators?
Can I move the tank to the CG?
I'm thinking to mount the Hinges at the center, any comments?
Any suggestion about mods for reinforcement or to make it lighter?
I'm planing to use a YS 80ST3 Heli that I adapted for flying, it is about 3 to 4 Oz lighter than the OS 91 FX with standard muffler and the throttle response is awesome!
By the way, does it fly as good as the kit seems?

I just call Andres Andersson who is one of the partners of C.A. Models, about CG
He told me this place your CG at 33% to 35% of the wing chord measured just aside the fuselage to start then you can go up to 45% it will depend on how you feel the airplane.
Also I ask him about installing two mini-servos (Jr Digital 80 Oz) at the tail and a pull pull ruder in the tray. He told me that putting the battery pack at the front of the plane should be enough to get the balance around 35% to 40%.
When I saw your pics. I assuming your looking for full 3D stuff.
