Hey Andrew! I spoke to Charlie W. this past weekend and he tells me that you may have flown your Panacea for the first time this past weekend, how did it go? I was surprised that Charlie was building one for himself after his comments on the glasswork. Anyway did you go DZ on this one? What was the final weight? Tell your dad I said hi and I will probibly see you in Toledo.

Marty,
I fly my panacea. It really flys good. I only have 2 flights on it as it was really cold when I flew it. About 30 degrees. It was a little tail heavy for my liking which caused some pitch coupling but I will move the batteries up and see how it goes this weekend. I am running the 140dz in this and the plane came out at 10 pounds 2 oz. It flys much like my Smaragd z maybe a little faster but that could be because the last time I flew my smaragd was in Septemeber and have been flying my 40% since then so I feel it is not a good call yet until I get a few more flights on it. Maybe this weekend I will go out and fly it.

Thanks for getting back to me, sounds like at 10.2 and a DZ it should be great for FAI. When he said you might fly I wondered as it was very chilly down here in South Bend. Charlie came down to the annual "Pot O Gold" Swap......

Hi Andrew,
Any pictures of your finished Panacea? I am glad to hear first flights went well. What issues did Charlie W. have with the glass work?

Bill,
I think that charlie had a problem with the fit of the canopy to the fuse. the fuse was a 1/8th inch higher then the canopy so he had to cut it at the seam and make it fit. I am not sure to much other then that. I will get a picture tomorrow as my digital camera lost all its batteries.

Hey Andrew,
My panacea also had some glass issues kinda like those.....but it is olmost finished i just can't really find the time to work on it for a few more days. Other than that i am glad to hear it flys well, maybe i'll get to see it at nats next year[8D]

Bill I have the Panacea also and had the same minor problems but an easy fix the canopy was taller than the fuse we both just cut the seam line on the fuse and spread it out to match and reglassed the seam form the inside a little filler and done, do it before firewall install and you won't even be able to tell it don't have to cut all that far about half way to spinner.

I see, it's the front of the canopy.....I believe it’s a problem of the fuse having relaxed a bit upon release from the mold. It tends to bulge out in the sides with out the former in the gear box/ front of the canopy area. This causes the forward canopy -fuse mating area to lose a little vertical height. If you put the canopy on and give a gentle squeeze to the fuse it will match up. I didn’t see the finished manual to see if that was in there…I guess it wasn’t. I’ll get a hold of PAC and see if they are aware of the problem.
Thanks for the info! I can’t wait to get mine.

I got a Panacea hangin in my hangar. Its BW's after it had the mid air at NATS last year. Nothing left of it. Just memorbilia (sp) now. Just a fuse and a signature, looks good whilst kickin back a few cold ones though. I remember seein' it the year b4 @ NATS when it was just a plug. Prolly as close as I'll ever come to ever havin one!
