BYTW I have the extreme flight yak and it is an absolute great flying plane (less roll coupling in knife edge and much, much lighter) however it is quit a bit smaller. Jamie

Jamie,

Thanks for your reply. Is it possible to compare these two planes for me? (68" yak and 76" DP edge) Flying 3d & Imac, sport.

I was thinking about powering the D.P. with the 1.60 and maybe adding the Jett muffer-- I thought I would prop it with a mejzlik 19-7 or 6. The 1.6 is on a Lineir edge 540 right now and weighs 12.8pounds--power is good. If the D.P. came in under 13 with this sett up and had another 200inches of scale wing area I think it would be a great package. I think this is the biggest plane that I could fit in my car.(not 100% sure it would fit).

It ptrobably would come in at or under 13 lbs with the OS 1.60fx. And these are pretty long planes. I hope my DP Edge 540T fits in my Honda Accord. We'll soon see.

I think the 540 is a tad more stable makes it easier to 3D the Extra is a tad bit more unstable makes it a bit better for IMAC. Both will do everything well.

I'd get the Edge. I have one with a Moki 2.10 waiting for radio gear. It's a darn nice ARF.

You really need to count that wide fuselage toward the wing area. It generates a lot of lift. If you don't believe me look at a Gee Bee.

Why have I never seen a DP edge in 3D flight?

They fly GREAT! I am selling mine right now because I just bought a 40% Carden Cap 232 and I need to make some room. The DP Edge has been my favorite flyer for over a year now. Here are a couple vids of one 3Ding.

I just flew my edge for the first time this weekend with the DPM moki 2.10. I am using a Air Wild NX 20X8 prop, and running the engine rich as hell. Have around 1.25 gallons through it so far. So power is still a few gallons away. Even at this rich setting the plane hovers a bit under 3/4 throttle. I have my cg a 6" and have a bit of tail weight in it too. 6 ounces to be exact. I had 5 flights over the weekend and found the plane waterfalls, blenders, and inverted flat spins like its nobodys business! Great plane, and the 2.10 is a pretty good match. I guess if you really wanted some sick 3d a 50 cc gasser woudlnt be so bad though!

Are both your elevator and rudder pull pull?

They both work fine for me. You might have to right click and "save target as".

Yes both are pull pull, but I am moving elevator servos to tail to loose the weight. I am running a HS5945mg on the elevator right now, just going to add a second and move the weight back. I also am going to order a carbon fiber landing gear from Chief Aircraft to help bring the nose weight down. Its supposed to be a pretty drastic change.

Swap Cop,

Finally got the videos to run. Nice flying! I guess that
proves the DP edge is a good 3D plane after all. It
seems very stable in harriers. I didn't see much wing
rock. What engine are you using?

Greg
