One of you guys should have reported this schilling to the moderators long before now. The only reason I found it is because I was looking for it based on another thread by the same people. It bothers me when someone deliberately uses schilling techniques to bypass the rules but then it makes me angry when they do it as if they think everyone is stupid and not going to catch on as if they are just too smart to get caught. Then they come back and imply that there was nothing wrong with what they did, they were just trying to help people. I would never do business with anyone who has to use deception as a method of selling a product and certainly not someone who thinks I am stupid.

By the way, I don't have any authority in this forum but I have reported this thread. If I find any more of this, I am going to report them also, just for your information.

You don't seem to understand that there is no misconception. It is your blatant attempt to bypass the rules assuming that nobody here would be intelligent enough to discover your true intent, free advertising.

Maybe combatpigg is correct that deleting the thread would be a mistake. Leaving it here for all potential customers to see would be far worse for your business. But RCU doesn't work that way. It is not the intention of RCU to hurt your business but neither will RCU allow you to abuse its business principle.

I just got Lightfoot's report on this thread. I have edited some posts to remove inappropriate commercial content and completely removed some posts, but for now will not delete the thread. Instead of me voicing my opinion on the advertising techniques used, I think letting each member come to their own conclusion may be the best approach.

I make most of my purchases based by what other modelers on RCU have to say about the product. I think alot of other people do also. The whole idea of these forums are to exchange ideas, do research and read reports of the hits and misses of a particular plane etc. Magazine reviews are nice but you can not beat the reviews of the guys on here who buy them and tell what they think of it in these forums. I bought the Vectorflight edge. I had never even heard of them until I read the thread on RCU about their planes and customer service. I would really be pissed if they were simply shilling and the plane was a piece of junk. The good thing is the people in that thread are genuine buyers with honest unsolicited opinions. I am very happy with my purchase as I believe what the others have to say about it, and I have not recieved the plane yet. I am buying the EF Yak based on the forum. I will discount anything these two have to say about anything on here though.

What these two guys did not only hurts the forum and its members but other companys. If the readers could not believe what they read about a certain plane etc then it would hurt the sales of some really good companys. The members would lose out on some really good products.

Yes, this is exactly what happens when RCU is missused, thats for pointing that out. RCU policies also say to

Rcu moderator should be deleting threads, posts and most of all users

Moderators are fully aware of the rule concerning flaming other members. I have read every one of the posts over again and found only one that was in any way degrading to members.

Other members have been civil in their discourse yet it seems that you do not understand that you have intentionally broken the rules for your own gain and got caught in the process. Now you want the whole thing to just go away and for everyone to leave you alone. Their is a serious ethics problem here the members have a right to know.

Attempting to turn the rules against other members does not make your actions any less questionable, especially when the rules have not been broken. It shows an attempt to take the spotlight off you when you were the one who intentionally placed the spotlight on yourself.

Wow, Don't you guys just want to play with your toy airplanes and stop spitting dummies. I do agree missusing the forums to further your business in this way is not fair, do it honestly and people will respect you for it ( and may purchase your video also) but this way you have probably given the forum members a bad opinion of yourself and your friend, which is not good for your business. If you are honest and apologise to the members for misleading them and start afresh i'm sure you'll do well.

It is up to the moderators then, to do what they want as far as this thread goes.

Well i was 12 once.. I made some mistakes, wasnt a pro, made a video, got a buddy or two, started posting on RCU, advertising was free, now they dont like me, maybee i should have been a better planner, gone out and bought a banner, YEA YEA UHH UHH.

what is all this camotion anyway, watching 3d videos will not make you a 3d pilot it will only prove that someone else is better. yes the sticks need to be in an exact position at a precise moment to get results - 3d training videos and books will show this but fall short in explaining what is really necessary for 3d piloting.

the camotion is this is a MESSAGE board. not advertisement board. If it was, you woulndt be able to chat and exchange info. for all the people plugging stuff. This seems to be why the moderator hasnt taking this thread down yet.. so people can see what happens when you break the rules... Have you ever been to a board that the moderators dont watch as close as this board? you will have to weed through porn ads etc etc etc, makes it terrible,, you get false threads,, people taking advantage of people, I think everyones point here is that if you want to advertise something do it with the banners or other means outlined by RCUs rules

Besides if they were really trying to help someone they would have been giving advise to honest questions in other threads not making up new threads to plug their product. It is possable that their video might be helpful but, the only true way to learn is to get out there and bang the sticks!!!!!!!!!!

I logged on to this forum looking for sound advice on how to set up my electronics for 3D flight. All I found was several pages of sniping and bickering, and the best advice I found was
to "go watch a video".

I'm glad I don't belong to the club that those guys belong to.

This has always been my complaint - too much promo and not enough tips and tricks. modelers are trying to make a living/money in the hobby which never happens. everyone I have ever met in the hobby that has tried to make money fails eventually ends up broke, burned out, frastrated not even enough money to support their own equipment. It all looks good on paper untill you deal with shipping, returns, lost interest, many calls from potential customers that dont order, copy cats, cheep competing products made overseas, etc. when you add up all the start up expense TIME invested lost sleep over some big deal that went bad - these guys make 10 cents per hour.
