Default This forum is misused for advertisement

As Brad-A discovered, this forum is used by few users to advertise ultimate_3d products. The advertisement is done this way: One user posts beginner's question, and the !QUOT!other!QUOT! user replies, and attach link to one of those websites. The first user then claims that he entered the website, and found it's products to be great. Those two websites were advertised aggressively using the above technique.

This kind of posts is meant to bias the RCU community toward the relevant product. It creates the wrong impression in people who read the posts - especially beginners. For instance, beginners may understand from the posts the ultimate_3D movies (that costs about 18$) will be the best device to learn 3D from. They will figure that out although there was no recommendation on that product from people that are not related to the fraud.

I'm calling the 3D forum community to act against this kind of fraud by not entering the advertised sites for long period of time. It will also do good if you take your time and email extremeflight.com, saying someone is ruining our forum while trying to advertise them.

Yeah we've been there, done that, bought the T-shirt, so grow up already.

Never heard of ultimate_3D, which is quite impressive as I spend a lot of time on this forum, so their "advertising" is obviously not working..

And why pick on EF? Lots of different products have been listed on this forum, some of which have had lots of coverage simply because they have proved very popular eg UCD 46/60, Funtana 40/90,
Capiche 50/140, QQ Yak etc. EF just falls into this bracket. If your advertising theory held true, these threads would soon die a death. And seeing as Chris Hinson uses "Extream Flight" as his user name, I think everyone know that it is him.

Remember, plenty of posts criticising models as well on this forum, so we soon hear about bad products or services when they occur.

Plus regular users soon get to know which other users come out with useful info, and which just spout off, which is just the same as any flying club. Just the way it is.

It's not the advertisement by itself that concerns. Equipment manufacturers posts are one of the attractions in RCU. They often knows more then others about our hobby, and when they mention their product it is usually contributing to the discussion.

The problem is when manufacturers or dealers try to mislead us by purpose.

When I see 10 people saying good things about a new product, I may think that it is indeed a good product. While in reality, all the 10 user names were the same guy, and the reason that nobody wrote bad thing about the product is that nobody used it.

btw, the reason that you haven't heard about ultimate_3d is that it apears in begginers posts here in the 3D forum ("how to hover ?", etc.). And indeed this kind of misleading posts are ment for beginners.

Yanival, what are you talking about? Those are some mighty weighty accusations you are making. Yes I do monitor the threads on my products here on RCU, daily if possible. I try to answer any questions that arise that are not answered by others. This is common with most manufacturers that care about their customers and their product.

I was approached by John Prescott of JP Media a few months ago about donating a 68" Yak to be used in an instructional video by a very talented young flyer. I was very impressed with his abilities and agreed to send one of the Yaks to be used in the video. The young man did a fine job with the video (called Ultimate 3D) and shows first hand the capabilities of the 68" Yak and the stick inputs behind the most common 3D maneuvers. I feel this video will help a lot of guys who are just learning the art of 3D and I am glad to be involved with this project. I will always lend a hand to a young person who is trying to do something positive with his or her life. There are far too many negative things for young men and women to get involved in at this age (16) and if I can help to influence them in a positive direction I will do my best to do so.

I don't know what kind of trouble you are trying to start, but there is no hidden advertising conspiracy here.

EXTREME FLIGHT,

He is talking about the "Help with 3D manuevers thread". The guy that shot the video got caught advertising his product in a very bad way.

Extreme Flight,

I am glad that you are not involved in any conspiracy, and never thought that you are. The fact is that someone is tring to promot the movie in a strange way. That person also posted a link to your site. There was nothing bad about him posting a link to your site, but I think that Extreme Flight does not want to be promoted by someone that uses those methods.

We should fight cases where people promote things the way they did with ultimate_3D. Since you contributed an airplane for the movie production, I am sure you can convince him to stop.

I would like to appologize mentioning Extreme Flight in the original post. I do not want to heart your business in any way, or to ruin your good reputation. I will edit the orginal post, and erase your name.

ExtremeFlight
They are shilling your product also. Here is the proof.

Thanks to everybody so far with the help. WOW!!! that flying on that video Ultimate 3-D is CRAZY!!! I'm gonna have to get that! Are you flying in any competitions this year cause I would come out to see you fly like that anytime. And what plane is that you are using (the red, white, and blue one) cause it looks like that plane is a blast to fly. And what motor are you using for that as well?
Thanks

spratrbo quote I have a 90-Funtana and with a YS 1.20 swinging a 16x6 APC and a Extreme Flight Yak with a YS 1.10 same prop.

As you see he knows what the red, white and blue plane is. He has one

I did not think for one second ExtremeFlight was or is involved in any way in this shamefull way in which these two people are trying to promote the video.

You are wrong Chris. Your quote "there is no hidden advertising conspiracy here."

Then what would you call what spratrbo and hovermaster are doing in these posts.
People , especially beginners read these post to get information and learn about products. Having a product that is falsley built up and praised is not fair to the people reading the posts.

Not because I don,t like the shilling going on to promote this video but I honestly think the 3du videos at the cirkus are better done.
It is just a bonus they are free.

Brad, I was not aware of any of this when I arrived at work this morning and began answering emails. Obviously I can't monitor every post on RCU. I took offense to the accusations in the first post and replied, ignorant of any other threads on the topic.

Chris
I am sure you have read my one post where I said something very wrong about you. I also posted a public apology in several threads. I am the first to admit when I am wrong. In this instance I am dead right. Their posts speak for themselves.
Nothing but deception and lies to try and bring attention to their product.

I think you to be a man of integrity and that is why I pointed what was going on out to you. As you can read they have involved your product also.

As per the shilling by these two.

If this is allowed then there would be no point in reading posts to see what products are good and not so good.

reading posts on rcu is exactly why, when I save the money I plan to buy your 68 Yak
so Posts do influence buyers.

RCU Policy

If you are a rep, manufacturer, distributor or retailer for any product you cannot solicit, offer, promote, or market this product in the discussion forums

This is why they are doing it in such an underhanded way.

Get to know the others on here, doesnt take long.

Having now read the other thread, dont see anything wrong with Hovermaster, as he said from the start he was involved.

Only Spratrbo hid anything, and certainly looks like it back fired.

If the video is any good, or crap, it will get a mention on RCU anyway.

WEll,

chalk it up to a couple of guys trying to hawk their products in an agressive manner , and getting egg on their collective face.

Brad-A you are a real bloodhound. Thanks for callling these guys on the carpet, maybe exposing their end game will stop others from trying it. Everyone is entitled to screwing up and like Chris said, there are worse things a 16yr old can be doing, being an agressive entraupenuer is not that bad, they just have to learn the rules, and not come off as deceptive.

I feel sorry for any newbies caught in the web, but it truly is Caveat Emptor.

I agree , I like the Cirkus videos. And they are free.

This is getting to be like....ahhh...never mind. They got caught and they will stop.

Back to Yakkin...cus I have Yak-54 on the brain. I need a Super Saver fare to a warm place to fly.....can you carry-on the Yak...or do you have to check it like baggage!!!
