Default FuntanaS 40 with OS .50SX??

Anybody done this? I got this engine about three months ago and have it used it much. Don't really have the money to buy a four stroke (which I know is best) but want to 3D!!!! Please give me some comments, thoughts, ideas........Thanks!

How's the power? Good vertical performance? I am really excited about getting the plane flying, but I sure don't want an underpowered 3D plane!

Dunno... I was gonna use my OS-50SX on my Fun-40 but instead opted for a Supertigre G-90 2 cy. That way I am assured unlimited vertical!

It is a large airplane for a 46-50 engine I think---- The OS-SX is a monster though-

I saw one hover with a .46 (around 3/4 throttle, not sure which prop), so I would think the .50 will be fine...

A friend of mine at the field has that same setup and it is great. He put the Bison Pitts muffler system on it and is spinning some where around 13,200rpm with a 12X5. It does have unlimited vertical. And the motor fits perfectly inside the cowl. Here is a picture during break in with out the cowl on so you can see the engine and muffler setup.

Yep. Unlimited vertical, perfect fit inside that cowl. Could not ask for a better 2-c for this airplane. The people with anything over a .61 in it are just asking for it to come to pieces.

Edit: No, the cowl isnt pointing down at all.. Just the angle.

Best small 2 stroke available, hence the price. One note, dont use the usual 12.25 x 3.75, I never tached mine but I believe it contributed to my OS50SX demise. Use a bigger prop. I still loved this engine. Mine never did deadstsick ever, but these engines will tend to keep running even if they are a little lean, (good and bad i guess)

I am using a G-90 2 cy. and I am sure she'll stay together--- don't worry about me-

I just know that my profile has good power with the 50SX but the Funtana is heavier and physically larger so I moved up a bit..

i use an OS70 mk2 surpass on my funtana and the power is unreal, take off 3metres, vertical climb no problem. i use a 13 x 4 sometimes a 13 x 5 prop. model technics fuel 16% bekra which i also use for my helis. for me its a perfect combination.

The Funtana pictured in my previous post has Futaba 3004's in it and has plenty of control. And with a 91 fourstroke you don't have to worry about weight. I have a OS-70 Surpass four stroke in my Big Stick with 3004's it is way heavier than the Funtana, and with a 13X6 APC prop it has unlimited vertical on 30% heli fuel.
