OK Funtana 40 + Saito 82 Who's got it??
I watched a guy fly his with the saito 100 and it was nose heavy as hell, and honestly the 91 isnt any lighter.
This guy running the 100 tells me that the 82 just isnt enough for this plane, so andybody running the 82 i gotta know what you think, do you wish you had more power or is it just right.
Im about to order my motor but im pacing back and forth again trying to make up my mind, Please HELP []

RE: OK Funtana 40 + Saito 82 Who's got it??
I run mine with a Saito .82 with a 14 x 4w prop and love it. Hovers just over half throttle and lands like a kite. The only thing that can get you into trouble is using too much elevator at the wrong time. Does some strange things when you grab all of the elevator at once. I have to use 1/4 elevator when doing loops. Other than that, this plane will do anything you want and I haven't wished for more power at all. What elevations are these guys running at?

I have that setup and Love It!!!!!!!! I run 30% CP heli fuel and an APC 15x4 prop..........plenty of power here! Hovers @ 1/3 throttle, and mine is by no means light.......around 6 1/4 lbs. Flies awesome though!

I have the same set-up. Flies awesome. Like others have said, watch the elevator. I am just getting started with 3D and I can already do some neat stuff with this plane, but it is not a profile, so get used to it before you go nuts. [8D]

I run a .82 with a 15x4W APC and 30% fuel. It's plenty of power. I flew it for a year with a .72 and it was OK but needed 75% of throttle with a 14x4W and 30%.
You guys that are having the ELEV do strange things. Move the CG back to 6-3/8". It is a b*tch to land but will make a real 3-D monster out of it.

RE: OK Funtana 40 + Saito 82 Who's got it??
I have a F40 with a saito 100 on it and it actually needed the battery moved under the fuel tank to balance even with a fairly heavy APC 15x4W prop and Tru-Turn Ultimate Spinner. That said, I would still rather have to move things forward and have a lighter weight aircraft. The 82 is the perfect powerplant in my book. Plenty more power than you need, and light enough to not hamper the 3D performance as much, also it might KE better if lighter, and not be such a gas hog as the 100 is. Afterall it's not ALL about hanging from the prop, harriers and rollers on a heavy plane are never as nice as those of a lighter one!
My 100 is simply absurd power. Not really the absurd power that 3D'ers like, it's even more absurd than that!! It shakes the plane a good bit, will hardly slow come to a stop at idle without killing the engine, the 100 run times are only about 10 minutes before the fuels dry on the stock tank once well broken in, before that its mroe like 4 minutes, and it will wing rock a lot more with the 100 vs the 82. . . the 100 does a ballistic punch out at a half throttle. . . what's the point of all that useless throttle travel, cost, fuel consumption, wear and tear on the airframe, and sacrificed wingloading?
Ok. . . ok. . . so the 100 on the funtana *is* fun. . .but if I didn't already have a 100, or if I also had an 82 there would be no question that the 82 would be my top pick, even if given the choice of any other powerplant out there.
