Default Biplanes for 3d any good?

Do biplanes make nice 3d machines I have been looking at the Dave patrick ultimate can anyone comment on the bird? what are some other biplanes that are nice. I like the great planes on the 40 but I do not like kits ( I have never built one). Anywhere from a 40 up to a 100 or 120 What are a few nice ones?

Read the threads on Chip Hydes double vision. It's one of the best. I have just completed setting my up.

Chip Hyde's Double Vision is hard to beat for 3D. If you get DP I'd get the 120 size and puit a Moki 2.10 in it. There are not many 3D bipes in a small size. The OMP bipes are ok, like that Boxer 40 profile bipe. Also the 60 size one looks good.

The BME 37% Ultimate is a 3D Biplane. Its a 100CC Gas class airplane but it does fit in the class you are asking about.

yes the 100cc is a little large for me right now. I only see one size in the double vision. Do you guys know anything about the 1.20 size dave patrick ultimate, It looks pretty good for the price.

I have a YS 140 DZ on my DPM Ultimate 120. Here's a video of it:

http://www.pedrofrigola.com/Ultimate%20Show.wmv

My DZ swings Pro Zinger 18x8 @ 8500 rpm, which is a little stronger than Saito 180, I think. But I am sure Saito 180 swing a Menz 18x6 will haul it around just as good.

By the way, my 2-lb engine makes the DPM Ultimate nose heavy. When I have cowl on, I have the battery pack at the tail to balance it at the middle of the CG range. Saito 180 will be perfect, as it is a little lighter than my 140 DZ.

Joe,
With a Moki 2.1, I don't know how you would balance the plane. It's not like most other 1/4 scale aerobats with 3 servos mounted at the tail. There is no servo mounted at the tail. This plane also has a short landing gear, so 20" prop wouldn't fare so well.

Sean, I didn't know that you couldn't mount the servos in the tail. That's pretty weird. I saw Dave Patrick's booth at an RC show in Chicago and he had a Moki mounted inside the Ultimate 120. My Edge 540T 26% came with the option of putting the elevator servos in the tail so I assumed all his planes were that way. He loves to make all his planes pull pull, too many cables for me. My Edge is still a little nose heavy with the 5945's in the tail. The battery pushed a little aft will resolve that.
