tIANci - i couldn't agree with you more on the 9CAP... i think it looks cheap. if they finished in mat silver, i think it would be acceptable. but i prefer the 8U or the 9Z. i love the way JR's look and feel. the 9X particularly is like a piece of art to me. even the 14MZ doesn't really tickle my tummy. i might really sink some real money into a 9X. i have one on yahoo auctions going for $400 i'm considering... but it's not cheap for a used (6 months) TX set. by the way, i just went crazy and bought myself a technopower 5 cylinder radial. its only 20cc. i'm still reeling from having to pay for it!!!

response... Less bite than the APC.. But man touch the throttle and
it's right now!!!!!... I like it..

tIANci - tell me how that WACO flies because that is one of the candidates for the radial. the others are the Kyosho PT-17, Kyosho Super Stearman, AT-6

back on topic here. i just bought a topflite wood 14 x 6, you think my 63FZ on my Funtana would be happy with that?

Forestroke - I suspect the 14x6 is a little too much for the little 63. Don't punish her! Just go with the 14x4W. Its a F40 ... not going to fly her that fast. I will fly the WACO properly this weekend, shall update you but with a TT91 up front she needed 10 oz to balance! Its a short nosed plane. I think a heavy radial is just right, will send you some pics, my pilot has a nice red Hawaian flowery shirt! Hey, I got the PT17 ... NIB ...

tIANci- i know you have that PT-17, read in another thread. but honestly i'm a little hesitant to put the radial in that anyway since if it noses over, the engine is bound to get scratched. rather put in a cowl for added protection. i'm still a little confused as how i'm going to be able to start the engine and have any clue if all cylinders are firing. well... lots of time to think of that. i doubt i will be starting on that project in the next six months. first on the agenda is my cub then my hurricane. i'm sure that's half a year right there!

Forestroke ... stick your finger at the exhaust and you will know if its firing! Also, if one is not firing you will not get top RPM, totally obvious.

tIANci - i guess i'm worrying too much. i'll be running a collector so i won't be sticking my fingers into exhaust. i guess i can run it without the collector first and tach it. then i'll have an idea what rpm's i'll be running if all cylinders are firing. do you know if a normal glow clip will be able to power all 5 glow plugs? also, can a normal on-board glow driver handle 5 plugs? thanks, dude.

as for the PT-17, i'm quite jealous! :-) hehe... i wonder what you have NIB!!! you must have a bundle as well. i'm going through spring cleaning soon. going to get rid of half my planes. just haven't figured out which half yet :-)

Forestroke - sold most of my stuff off ... all I have NIB is GWS Funny Park, GWS A10 (gonna change to ST Models turbo motor), Kyosho PT17, Global Ultimate 40. Also got 2 scratch built planes ... thats all. I have been a good boy ... Oh yes ... almost forgot the WM Extra 60 at the LHS, not collected ... hahahahaha ... I have nothing more to declare! I take the GREEN lane!!!

If you wanna use a remote glow then make sure your wires are hooked up PARALLEL ... that will do it.

tIANci - i know, but can the on board glows handle the extra current? the mcdaniels on board glows for 5 cylinders are through the roof at US$154 when a ram is like 40 bucks.

wow... you really cleared out your NIB hanger (not too sure about the flying hanger kekkekkekek). anyway, you've picked good planes to keep. the PT-17 is a classic and the Global Ultimate is the only small semi-scale ultimate. the ultimate 30 isn't actually scale. you wanna buy some of my ARFs? lol.

i'll be putting the 14x4W through it's paces tomorrow on the YSFZ equipped funtana 40 as long as it doesn't rain, running 30% cosmos heli fuel. keep you guys posted on the performance...

forestroke.. Let us know how you like the prop.... I tried the APC 14X4W on both
of my 63's... The prop wash was great, But I did not like the slower spool up.. So
I have been useing Pro Zinger 13X4 and a 5 wooden props.. I do have a 14X4
wooden prop coming to see how that does:-) But I only run P.M. 20/20

raideron - i think the spool up will be fine since i've already tried the 13x4W and found that it spooled up quickly but was way too little prop. the guy who was flying the 33% gasser even gave it the thumbs up. i think the 30% is really a great invention, makes my terrible engines bearable and my awesome engines... well, unbelievable! try it... you'll find it addictive.

tIANci - that's the hard part!!! i'm going to sell the following planes
rtf - Matrix, TT Lazy Tiger, Neiuport 10, All Electrics
arf - Geebee 25, WM Ultimate 40S, VQ P-51B maybe Kyosho Corsair

Just have to get a bank account and go on line.

I really like the kyosho corsair, but with the landing gear issues, the non-matching wing panels, i'm trying to source either a H9 or Sportsman Aviation version. I've decided that the radial will go into one of those. I think i'm going to sink my money into a keleo creations collector and try to get them to give me a scale exhaust.

The Kyosho Corsair is very nice! I like it. U flown the Nieuport? I may wanna buy one. How is the WM Ultimate? Small?

the nieuport has never flown :-( can't get the idle of the ASP slow enough. the WM ultimate is small, just over a meter in both directions. i think the global ultimate is much nicer looking as the WM tries to look like the TOC ultimates, which personally i don't like as much.

the kyosho corsair IS very nice... but unfortunately, i don't want to risk scratching the cowl due to the gear collapsing. i'm very picky about those kind of things and would feel very bad if it happened. yes i've had nose overs... but nothing to write home about. if the gear decides to turn and flip the plane, i'd probably have a heart attach right then and there. so i'd rather invest in a larger plane and go with aftermarket retracts. i till may make the corsair and put my NIB O.S.70 but not sure yet... not on my list of priorities!

wanna see something cool? my B-17 project... on hold.

tIANci - still trying to figure out what to put in it... it's a big investment anyway more in time than in money. we'll see, tIANci... we'll see. cub, hurricane, corsair first...

Forestroke - Its been raining here about 3pm-6pm, no probs for me as I fly in the morning and late afternoons!!! Hehehe ... Anyways, some LHS just offered me the H9 Miss America at a nice price with a Saito 100 ... man oh man ... I am in trouble. Just ordered the H9 Extra 260 and now this temptation. Sigh ... I need to do more overtime.

tIANci - the 260 looks awesome!!! i'd pass on the miss america... not too impressed with the reno racers, dago red, miss america, rare bear, critical mass... prefer the warbirds versions.

tIANci - i actually haven't seen one in the flesh so maybe it has one of those "wow" factors. i've seen many WM miss america and dago 40's and wasn't so impressed. h9 does look nicer, tho. you thinking about getting that keleo-creations P-51 exhaust? now THAT would make it a show peice (and a pain in the ass to clean up :-)

Ive useing the 13-6 apc used a 13-4 to run in the 63 am going to use a 14-4 apc for 3d with the f40 for stable hovering and good pull out, revs may drop a bit but nothing to worry about this 63s motor has plenty of power! Biger diamerter with less pitch i found are better for 3d work.
