I was wandering which is the better 3d plane DPM edge or ultimate. I have always flown ultimates but not sure about dpm. Which is quicker roll rate rudder elevator. Wich is smoother.
thanks

I had a DPM Edge with a DA 50 on it. It rocks for 3D. Very stable in harrier and the roll rate is or can be very fast. I have flown the 120 size ultimate and it didn't hold a candle to my Edge. In my oppinion you should go with the Edge. Just my two cents worth.

just recently maidend my dpm edge w/ moki 210 flew great. just waiting for nicer weather to really wring it out, their suggested throws were ........conservative. I've flown a club members dpm ultimate w/saito 180 3d's well but nothing like an edge.

Ok Thanks! The prices are about the same I am wanting to get the arc version. I like unlimited verticle and I need the highest power to weight ratio the lighter the better so how does it fly with a moki 2.10 in it lots of power. Also could I put a smoke system on this engine so that it will actually smoke not look rich.
thanks

The Ultimate can 3D, but it certainly is not designed for it, as least not easily. For roll rate, pitch rate, and yaw rate, you can check the video in rolling harrier, waterfall, torque roll and flat spin respectively. By the way, my Ultimate w/ YS 140 DZ weighs 12 lb. w/o cowl, spinner, & wheel pants. Fully equipped, it's in excess of 12.5 lb. Definitely not light enough for 64" length airframe.

If you go for the DPM Edge, and want the best power to weight ratio, get YS 160 DZ, mount servos up front. It will balance. Plane will be 13 lb. When propped correctly, the 160 DZ can pull 24 lb. My 140 DZ pulled 21 lb. swinging Bolly 19x6 @ 10200 rpm.

with a moki 2.10 on the dpm edge the vertical is unlimited. im still breaking in the moki and it definitely has more than enough power, only about 2 gallons through it so far. If you use a 2.10 put everything as far back as possible in the fuse and it should be close to the right cg.

Yup I know what ya mean I have flown ultimates and love them but they are not as 3d capable as the others. Nice video though. THat sounds like a good idea. Not sure when I will be able to buy all this I have 2 helicopters and they are fun but alot of work so I will have to put aside some cash money to do this. What knid of smoke systme do you think I should run.
Thanks
