9C - very cool. Taking me some time to really exploit the features.
Muffler Tunnel - clears lots of 2 stroke mufflers, but maybe not Foster Beer cans LOL.
Controls - very neutral with little cross coupling. Knife edge is rather easy and does great both sides.
Pattern or 3D - the Freestyle is unusual in that it is capable of both. Landings do not require high speeds. Mine is just rock solid to land, and can be landed very slowly. It will do all pattern stuff, and most 3D. Pretty unusual to have a "hybrid" plane such as this to be capable of doing both nicely.
Pop-Ups into a Harrier - my plane would snap out of a popup into a harrier if programmed stock. But, if you add some reflex (up aileron) with up elevator, it actually mushes around nicely. My IMAC buddy helped me set up this plane. We added 60% up aileron with up elevator input to increase washout. I have it programmed into the up position of the 3 position switch on the right front face of the 9C.

i tried spoiles on my sig se once.....
i was doing an elevator and it wouldnt come out of it..lucky i had it programed on that switch and turned it off before any thing happend.whats a pop up in a harrier?

Dennis, I didn't actually perform the manuever myself, but my IMAC buddy did it with my plane. So, I'm not sure the first part is a pop-up or maybe called something else.
As I recall, he stalls the plane so it flips doing nose-down, at idle. With the plane travelling vertically downward, he pulls up elevator to "pop-up" the nose of the plane. With the plane temporarily popped up, he gives a little throttle to keep the nose up at 45 degrees or so to maintain a Harrier. Then the plane can be "driven around" in the harrier position while carefully balancing throttle, rudder, elevator and aileron to keep it from falling out.
When initially popped up with full elevator, the plane would quickly snap out when the nose came up, so it could never transition into a harrier. By adding the spoileron mix with up elevator, and adding 1oz of tailweight it got really good at the manuever. BTW, this is one of the manuevers he has found that smaller aerobats usually have a tough time doing. His 40% Carden Edge has no problem.
He could do the full 2002 IMAC Intermediate routine with my plane. Also, not typical for a small aerobat, with extremely axial rolls.

the manuver is called a paracute.its a wall but going down.ive been meaning to try a pattern/3d plane.....sounds like this is it.
the bigger planes do a lot of the stall manuvers a lot easyer.
the profile planes r the same way.cant wait to build my profile 540

Actually, I think Brian may have mentioned the Wall, but when I looked up what the Wall, Parachute, and Elevator look like in the Horizon book, the manuevers looked different. Either way, it's cool.
Brian thought that this plane would be a terrific Springtime warmup plane for a serious IMAC or Pattern flyer. Also handy in the autumn time when the weather is a bit iffy in parts of the county, it's easier to pull this plane out go flying than a 40% but is very capable.

I was interested in the Freestyle form the first time I saw it.... I settled for a Cloud dancer (Good decision IMHO).. as it was my 2nd lows wing plane. I am definitely more into pattern than 3D but a plane tha would allow me to practice both is alluring... and it costs $100 less than the Zen.....Hmmmmm
