It appears you really want an Extra. But they are not the best for 3D. The H9 33% Edge with a ZDZ 80 is an awesome 3D plane. Also the H9 33% Cap is great at 3D but they are out of production. I built the Chip Hyde Double Vision and it came out at 17lbs, about 2 lbs more than advertised and it was more of a semi complete kit than an ARF. Took lots of work.

I owned the H9 Cap w zdz80 and its was incredible, I sold it to get the Comp Arf Extra w DA100. That flies well but the H9 Cap was better at 3D. A close friend has the H9 Edge w ZDZ80 and that really 3Ds well.

These are the same planes as the CA models 300 from extreme aircraft at http://rcsuperstore.com/Products/Air...ft/eaa2350.htm
and I believe they have a special going for $499, or with the DA and standard mufflers for $1750, which, without smoke, should bring you in at 24 pounds. With the hyde pipes, count on 26-27 pounds, which seems kinda heavy for me, but this CHP 300 at http://aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=250 (scroll down and click on the video) came in at 26.5 dry and it seems to fly pretty well. They also offer it in ARC form.

Between those two planes I would definitely choose the Hanger 9 33% Edge. I havn't been able to see the 34% Extra but I have seen the 33% Edge fly before and it was an outstanding performer (with the help of the pilot of course). I would love to be able to go out and spend $2000 bucks on a giant scale plane but I can't. You are very blessed....

I would also buy the H9 Edge 540. My buddy has one with a ZDZ80 and its an awesome plane. I would guess this is the cheapest and best way to get into the 33% aircraft.

I also have been thinking of a DA 100 powered 35% 3D monster, I have been looking pretty hard at the TOC Yak 54 and the Wildhare Extra 260. a fellow club member has that Chip Hyde extra and is a fantastic flyer, I am just not a fan of the "china coat" otherwise its a great plane.

The Extreme Aircraft 34% Extra (same as the CHP Extra, different colors) is $499 right now. That would be even cheaper for a larger plane.

The Edge is quite light, though, and would be a great performer with the ZDZ80. I have two planes on the zdz80 on cannisters in the 22-23# range and they are excellent. The Edge MIGHT turn out even lighter than 22#.
