Jimmy Franklin & Bobby Younkin die in mid-air crash....
This may not be the appropriate forum for this so Moderator's can move it if needed.
The following link offers current news of this tragic airshow accident. Jimmy Franklin was well known to modelers with his turbine boosted Waco and an ARF that featured his red color scheme. I was not too familiar with Bobby Younkin but understand R/C flying was part of his background. Jim Leroy narrowly missed the mid-air and landed safely.
They will be missed.

Man what a loss!!! I first say Jimmy fly at the Reno Air Races in 1986 when the Waco was black and silver, then later saw the CJ 610 boosted red Waco at airshow in Augusta,GA. He was a real showman. Thanks for posting this.

I'm sure they would'nt have wanted to go any other way, not to sound cold or anything but its better than in a hospital bed.

Very sad news. Thanks for posting this Dick.
Jimmy Franklin was the first air show perfomer who made me think to myself, "Wow, I need to remember this guy's name." That was over 20 years ago.
I bet (and hope) we'll see some more Waco bipes modelled in tribute.

What a devastating loss. I first saw Jimmy Franklin a couple years ago at an airshow in Sturgis, SD, then again last year at Osh Kosh. His performance with Bobby Younkin and Jim Leroy was, without a doubt, the best airshow I've ever seen. Yes, at least they died doing what they loved, but I am so sad to know that I'll never see another of their performances.
