I,m trying to plan my 3rd and 4th planes and want to understand the flying differences between the two planes in total flying abilities.
3D flight?
Specific abilities/manuavers capable of?
Slow flight?
Specific atributes?
Down sides/incapable of?
Personal comments?
Thank, Dennis Spyridakos

3D flight? Both are capable.
Specific abilities/manuavers capable of? The Sledge will be better at spin manuvers (inverted flats etc).
Slow flight? UCD will win this one even though the Sledge won't be bad. Rolls are nice at any flight speed and elevator / rudder stay effective. Just over idle will keep the plane flying.
Specific atributes? Sledge will cost a less to put in the air. UCD will need better servos to handle the huge flight surfaces and generally more expensive engine etc.
Down sides/incapable of? UCD will not snap well as the wing just keeps flying. Knife edge spins are a thing of beauty and don't drop altitude quickly as most planes from the huge side area.
Personal comments? One of each as they are different planes.
Thank, Dennis Spyridakos

Thanks, again Excap.
Thanks to the rc gods today I made it for the 1st time on a weekend to the local flightline/club and picked up a SLEDGE 540 KIT BUILT, Built by a guy who builds alot just to fly a couple of times and sell them to the local members. he make a litttle $ and seems too build quialty using sullivan parts ect.
So far the only picky complaint so far is it seems heaver on the side of the engine and pipe that on the passenger side it seem he also put the tank in the wing on the same side as engine?.
I,.m going to post the whole deal with ?'s after reading the sledge posts again in detail.
Mabey next next trip he'll have a UCD 3d for sale :-)
Geeeze I better finish the trainer before I get stupid and take this thing to the local park :-)
Please PRAY for me to have the strength to pratice abstinence :-)
Thanks Dennis,

Dennis, do you have the radio gear installed? If not it will seem heavy on that side. All radio gear should be mounted on the side away from the engine. The tank in the wing should not be a problem, if you want to balance it laterally do it with the tank 1/2 full. What engine does it have on it? Tom

3Dreaming, Yes the builder sold it to me with everything except the reciever, He took that out after sale he was flying it just before I showed up.
Engine is Supertiger 51 Ringed Engine :-( , APC 11 . 4 Prop. .If I custom ordered I would have put YS 63 or Irvine 53 or OS 50.
I have a YS 63 on Backorder from LHS, Im going to put that on a Sig SE ARF. at least thats the plan before buying the Sledge 540.
Yes its set up with the tank and engine on passenger side and the reciever and battery on the driver side.
YOUR RIGHT! I was holding it with the battery and reciever out! I didnt think.
Thanks for the balance tip.
