I am close to purchasing a 30% plus 3d plane. As of this date I cannot find a good review or first hand feedback on the Sukhois 3d capabilities. Please respond if you have first hand knowledge of this plane or another suggestion. Am also considering a H9 cap 232 (I know where there is one NIB) or AW Edge 540T 33%. I appreciate any help possible Compound Air

The H9 33% Cap 232 is superb at doing 3D stuff.....
I put mine together nearly 100% stock....with the instruction recommended throws, mixing and differential.....CG is right in the middle of the range and the plane does things very very well.
I don't think its the best at flying sequences but it 3D's as well as anything I have flown.....Including Aeroworks ARF Edges and even the kit built ones.....The H9 Extra was good too but it was little heavier....the CAP does high alpha stuff really well...I think this a typical Cap trait.....
Mine has a BME 100 on it and performs very very well. Weight is 24.5lbs and the plane has great performance to do anything in the book.
As for the Sukoi I personally have not played with one too much yet. Had my hands on one for a short time this summer but......I spoke to a local guy yesterday that is thrilled with his...Same weight as my CAP he has the BME 102 so a little more power and he is sooooooo happy with it...He says it does sequence stuff like its on a rail. He's not a big 3D guy but he is happier with it than any of his previous Aeroworks Edges.
Now I know McConville designed the Sukoi to be very capable of 3D stuff and I have heard that it does all the good stuff too. The one I flew was not setup right and was nose heavy.....It flew nose heavy....and did not have the extreme rates to do the 3D stuff. But i liked it for the short time I had my hands on it.
I think the H9's are the best way to go...$800 and they go together right! The Cap flies great right off the boards....just set the rates and everything where the instructions say! I think its the absolute best value in the 33% airplanes from any manufacturer

Say Troy:
How does your Cap do in vertical uplines?
Mine pulls to the belly.
Trying to figure if it's characteristic of the plane or if I need more nose weight or some engine thrust line adjustment.

I actually added some up thrust to mine. Very minor about a 1/8" shim under the lower motor mount flanges.....It goes up pretty darn straight..
A couple things...If you CG is within the range your....probably good...I tried my at the front edge and at the rear edge of the recommended CG range...I'm flying mine about dead in between.
Take a good look at you ailerons....and make sure they are not drooping down...this will effectively add positive incidence to the wing...and with the wing and the engine further off than intended the thrust will overcome the flying of the wing at the tops of verticals.....So its a combo thing.....I would make sure that is OK
then make sure your Elevator trim is level with the stabs....to do this you have to fly it level hands off you can't have it diving or climbing when flying hands off in level flight...I do this at about 1/2 throttle...
If everything looks in good order the stabs and elevators are matched up pretty close with the radio on and the ailerons match the wing root close then add some up thrust say an 1/8" shim and see if that helps.....
I also added some right thrust very little though say 1/16" shim also...It might need some more right thrust. That's for my liking....
I'm trimming it like a pattern model soooooooooo...I want it to fly straight..many guys want them to just do 3D stuff and I think they might want a different setup...like more aft CG and perhaps even more up thrust to help with Torque rolls..(though mine does it pretty well) and the rates of course they are dialed back to something that is capable of flying in a straight line.........!
Good Luck
