Hitec or JR digitals ?

Hi there in this past IMAC season I used 20 hitecs And 12 JRs Digital HITEC 0 failures JR 3 failures I will be installing over 25 new HITECs next season with TOTAL confidence. MARK,

Anything can fail at any time. Plan for it and make sure to keep a close eye on your gear. Modern radio gear is very reliable, but nothing is completely and totally trustworthy.
This anecdotal evidence of Hitec verus JR reliability isn't useful to determine which is more reliable. There are too many factors such as number of units in service and length of service to tell anything at all. Buy what makes you happy and let the others argue Ford versus Chev versus Dodge while you're out flying.

JR has a recall for the 8411's. seems the gear train is failing even under moderate loads.
And the kicker? there still selling them. Once you buy them you have to send them back to JR for the replacement. If your plane hasn't already crashed. :P

Just a little word to all..
The guys bashing the HITEC eqpt. all seem to know/fly with each other. I know in our club guys that chum around can start thinking alike.. not a bad trait, but it can skew the facts somewhat.
I fly with JR, Futaba, and HITEC servos. I am either real lucky or just do not do this enough, but never had a servo failure yet. I fly 25-35% aircraft most with digitals (mostly hitec and a few JR). Price and service are always my main concern and I have absolutley no complaints with either manufacturer. I think all manufacturers of any product as a defect rate because ultimately their is human involvement in making the product.
Bottom line... Sometimes bad things happen to good people and there is no explanation or fix to the problem. If a can of soda broke open in the case (like commonly happens) do you think coke would shut down their packaging lines...
Buy what ever you comfortable with!!!!!

I am aware of the recall and was concerned about it,but I think you are wrong about the "moderarte flight load",Horizon says have no reports of failures on airplanes,only Heli's.I haven't heard of any airplanes crashing due to 8411's failure,but I could be wrong.

I spoke to a person today very high up in the food chain at Horizon today regarding 8411's
The 8411 problem was explained to me to be a heli application problem. NOT AN AIRCRAFT PROBLEM.
This is what he told me:
"It is really a combination of vibration and flight loads in helis. There are a lot of factors, but it is basically working the servo hard enough that it is getting the motor too hot. This heat in the motor is causing the problems. The 8311 motor has a higher ohm value which in turn reduces the torque, and a combination of these 2 things eliminates some heat build up."
If you feel that you need a replacement for an 8411 that you have in a aircraft, they will replace it for you. But, they dont feel its needed.
