RE: AeroWorks Edge 540T 46-60?
O.S. 55 is sweet! Its on my AW .46 - .60 ProX260 QB "Freestyle"
I would love to mount this on my Edge 540T http://www.osengines.com/engines-air...900/index.html or wait
until O.S. introduces a 15cc gasser.

ORIGINAL: PLANEIAC
I wish they offered this plane in a 2 piece wing , wing tube setup

I agree! I bought this plane a few years ago, but has been in the garage for about 2 now. Was contemplating on dusting it off, making a few repairs and putting it back in the air....or even buying another one. It flies great! If it was split wing, I would totally just buy another. It seems difficult these days to find a great aerobtic performer in this size range for glow. My original has a saito 100. Perfect combo.

Yep, its really a great plane!!! I had the OS 45AX installed (waste of time), then the OS 61, then the Magnum 91 4-stroke. The JBA 15cc that's currently in the nose is nothing but junk[] I'd love to install the OS FS-95V 4-Stroke http://www.osengines.com/engines-air...900/index.html or the Evolution 15cc http://www.evolutionengines.com/Prod...rodID=EVOE15GX

Im looking for a good deal on a new landing gear, canopy and cowl for the AW Edge 540T 46-60. Mine has been in the garage for a while now, and needs some repairs. Was contemplating on stripping the entire thing down, lightening it and giving it a whole new scheme. If anyone has the parts as mentioned, please PM me....lets make a deal.

Just checked the AW site and I cant believe the price went up on these. Ive been hoping to catch a second one on crazy clearance or something being that its been around so long. Its so good I guess they wont retire it anytime soon.

If you want to learn 3d stay away from Aeroworks . That ProX260 is junk and not ProBro approved . It is overweight and unstable . If you want a real Slab that has all the qualities we desire get this one .

I'm still flying my Edge . Don't know how anyone could ever fly this obese bird on a .46ax . Its almost 7lbs . Throw a Saito 115 on it and enjoy unlimited vertical and wicked knife-edge spins and wicked tumbles . Use the weight to your advantage .

I agree with McChicken! Another great plane for learning 3D is the OMP Pro-Yak. I set mine up with and OS 55ax using a 13x4 Xoar, and Hitec 311s all around. Love it. Easy to fly, easy to fix and relatively inexpensive. Bought my 55ax on ebay for $100(wasn't even broken in) and the Hitecs for $8 each from Tower minus the quantity discount. Absolutely no regrets. Actually rebuilding the Pro-Yak now with a new scheme after a few repairs.

Yep , the OMP ProYak is Bro approved . I think that's the only slab they sell now . OMP was built on profiles too . Don't mean to sound so cruel to the 260 but im big on slabs and tell it straight up what I think of various models . If a slab can do a cash drop without dropping a wing its a keeper .
I got 3 good flights on the Edge yesterday . I still need to get some vids some time before I dig a grave with it .
Ro I think I saw that one on Fleabay . There was another for $112 . I'm redoing a Sabre56 kit built . Its my favorite with my other Saito115

To speak to the durability of a profile plane... I once dumb thumbed it into the ground right on the nose(hovering 4 feet up and somehow I snapped it).... Picked it up, restarted it, and flew again just fine without any damage.

Need some help with the landing gear plate....
In looking at my Edge- I plan on stripping down and doing repairs over the winter. Im trying to figure out what I will need to do. The challenge for me will be replacing the landing gear plate as Ive never done this before.
What Im seeing is that the stock plate is a total 3/8" thick ply. Looks layered. I have 1/8" ply on hand. Will I be able to use what I have by sandwiching 3 layers with epoxy without an issue? Also what would be the best way to cut the old plate out? Would it just be an exercise in patience by using my dremel and sanding drums?
Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
PS - If anyone has a landing gear and uncut cowl you want to sell, please let me know.

Would someone please confirm that the stringers on the bottom side of the fuselage are balsa and not something else?
Ive used bass wood to repair sections of the stringers in the past, but will be replacing the entire length on both sides this time. Went to a local store and looked at balsa, but it just didn't seem to be the same as the original piece. The balsa seemed softer for some reason.
Thanks

I recently spoke with an Aeroworks representative on the subject of using a gas engine for the Edge. He recommended the DLE 20cc and said that lots of people have been using that engine, its a great fit and everything. Looking thru this forum, I have not really seen much about using the DLE. I am about to take this venture and am hoping some of you can share some experience with making this mod. Thank you in advance.

decided not to do the 20cc conversion, Just cant get this air-frame to cooperate. If I knew then what I know NOW, I would have gotten the extra 300 QB instead. Oh well. too deep in this one to sell it and get a different one

I have changed a few things trying to get this to fly the way i hopped it would fly (IMAC AND 3D). It is not what i thought it was. I upgraded to all ball-link hardware, Put a on-board glow driver for my magnum .91. Moved the rudder servo to the tail. Using a turnigy 2c 3000 mah life to power the reciever and glow driver. Have the CG set at 4". It will fly well and do so cool things, but not over powered enough for 3D. all in all, I am tired of messing with glow and want a lighter air-frame for 3D. I am trying to sell this one for whatever i can get and moving to 3DHS electrics. try them out for size. This hobby is expensive but soooo much fun!
