I'm planning on buying a Showtime for myself for Christmas, and I'm starting to research what eqipment I'm going to use on this plane. I've been looking at duralite and their regulator. Anyone else using this setup in the Showtime? Being my first lithium and regulator setup is there anything I should know about? If any of you have some pics of your setups that would be grate.
Thanks,
James

You might want to investigate Fromeco as well. People who have used them swear by them & the prices seem to be a little more reasonable. I think in the coming year we are going to see a lot of improvement in both the quality & price of Lithium batteries for our planes. FMA is coming out with new systems, as are a number of other manufacturers. Multichargers & self balancing chargers are becoming available as well. Lithium is probably going to be the battery of the future.

I use a Troybuilt models, LiIon pack and a Miracle switch... about the same weight as a Ni battery, but longer flight times between flights...
I use the same batteries in my 30% plane and have had no problems....

I use the MPI switch and regulator combo, the battery is a Lipo with 2050 mah....I can fly all weekend before recharging.
My battery is located below the fuel tank.

I am getting ready to build my SHOWTIME and I have a YS140Sport. Is this too much motor for this plane? I Dont want to rip off the firewall, but at the sametime I want a good reliable engine That flip starts 1st time everytime. Thanks for any input.

i dont think anything less than the 140 would give you true 3D performance. i had a saito 150 on mine and it was just perfect. hovered and pulled out. but reinforce the firewall well not to the point where its to nose heavy but mine started to come apart at the top of the fire wall from hand starting the engine, put some epoxy up there or something. using a 100 on that plane would probably fly it but no where near 3D performance. try a 16x6 master air screw scimitar wood they are awesome.

I fly the Showtime with a YS 110 and APC 16.5 x 5 prop and Lipo batt system. With this setup the plane can do any 3D maneuver and go vertical from a hover until you can't see it.
You don't need to overpower a plane to do 3D.

I fly mine with a Saito 100 and an APC 15 x 6, the power is good, excellent combination for pattern or sport flying... the showtime will go vertical from takeoff... I am confident it will 3d the plane as it hovers at just over half throttle but if you are an advanced 3D pilot (which I am not) a little more power would help. The 16 x 4 would also help for 3D... dgeorge I agree the Y.S. 110 or Saito 125 would be an excellent 3d combo but the 100 is also quite good.
