Ys 140l Vs Dz
#2
I think the biggest difference not advantage is the non pressure system. I like it a lot better. I just drilled out a fuel dot and hook it up the the overflow and the other gets hooked to the tank and put a fuel tee in there and it works great. I have well over 300 flights on my DZ and it is holding up great. The think i think is a advantage over the L is that is doesnt shake nearly as bad.

Multiplex,
That is a Mezilik (sp?). It was only for balance reasons it is about a ounce lighter then the APC. I switched to APC though. For some reason I didnt think the prop was as effecient as the APC

My DZ likes the cool power Heli fuel 30% nitro i dont need the power on the H 9 Taylor craft but it runs very consistent with the Heli fuel that is what YS performance and Central Hobbies is now recommening for the DZ the oil viscosity in the Heli fuels is thinner and flows better. Mine isnt broke in yet but Chad who is a Ys expert says the biggest difference also is the fact you only need to have high end needle out 1 to 1and 1/2 out . The first 140DZ i had did break a crankshaft right after 2 gallons of fuel but it was a rare deal. Central Hobbies sent me a new motor no questions asked .

Al at central is a great guy. My DZ likes Powermaster Helifuel but they just sent me out some to try on the dz its a lower viscosity oil. Mr. Yamada have done there homework on this motor. I also respect them for releasing this motor when it was ready not just to get it out

Fly boy yea i heard from Al he said the powermaster is great fuel it has been mixed and blended especially for the DZ my problem is the cost do you know what the price is per gallon or by the case with shipping charges thats the killer the shipping costs because it has to be labled hazerous . I would like to try some right now i am paying 22.95 for the cool power Heli 30% from my local hobby shop. The ys goes thru fuel like crazy.

Hello guys
Talking about Ys Dz and prop .What is the best prop size to break in the dingo ( 17x12 ? ) Just got my in and want to bench start it some time this week. Has anyone compare the prop efficiency of APC prop and other type of carbon props? Just

I would break it in with a 16x12. That is what i am using right now. It works great. I have no idea how much the fuel is now. Do you go to the Toledo show? If you do it is the best place to pick up fuel because they bring it up there without shipping. I also have done testing on the dz for props. I have only tested the mezilik and the apc but the apc is just more effiecient in my opinion.

Thank Andrew for the reply!!
I'll try the 16x12 prop. I'm using ys20/20 right now on my ys120 but I also have wildcat heli fuel 30% . I would love to go to Toledo show to get some fuel, plane, prop wheels etc etc but I don't think the stewardess will let me bring fuel on board back to my island of Aruba

I concur, break her in on a 16x12, then if you want (the 16x12 has huge power....) some other options that I like are the 16.5x12W, the 16x13 (if you are light sub 10lbs), the 16.5x12. I have not ran a 17x12 mostly because I really have had no need since those props above work very well for me.
A couple hundred flights on mine running 18% low viscosity oil/25% nitro without any greif whatsoever, gotta love em, hats off to YS.

I have found the "DZ" throttle response to be more linear in nature. Unlike the "L" series, I have not seen the need to plot a custom throttle curve.
Another trait is the max low idle RPM characteristics. When transitioning from high to low, max low idle rpm is instant. Compared to the "Ls" I own, max low RPM may take a few seconds before it's achieved.
