How should I set up my ignition? I have a switch connected to it and a battery port on the other wire how do you get a soft switch from the tranmitter? can e the ignition run of the reicever?

the ignition battery needs to be separate from the receiver and its battery. you put a switch between the ignition battery and the ignition unit. Just like you put a switch between the receiver battery and the receiver. When you go to fly you turn on both switches. this keeps the ignition fron introducing noise into the receiver. You use exactly the same type of switch. When the switch is ON you are ready to fly. With the switches in the off position, you use the charge jack to check voltage and charge the battery.

Yes. You also set up the throttle servo so that when you pull the trim all the way back it closes off the butterfly in the carb and this will also kill the engine. So you have two ways to stop the motor. Optionally, you can buy an optical kill switch that connects to the receiver on another channel. This kill switch goes between the battery and the ignition instead of the manual switch. Or you can put both switches between the battery and the ignition (in series) so that you have a manual switch (on the side of the plane) , a transmitter operated switch, and the throttle-closing (via the throttle stick).
And another option is to put a servo on the choke. This way you can close the choke via the transmitter. The engine will not run with the choke all the way closed so this is yet another way to stop the motor. It is nice to have two ways to stop the motor. I like the simple approach -- manual switch on the side of the plane plus throttle closes via throttle stick on transmitter.

The first time I fired up my new gas engine I shut it down with throttle cut on my transmitter to make a mixture adjustment. The second time I tried to shut it down with throttle cut and throttle trim the engine would not stop running. After that episode I was motivated to install an ignition kill switch that plugs into the receiver and can be operated from my transmitter.
The switch that I used was the RC100 Electronic Switch, Capable of 5 amps at 30V, from rcatsystems.com, $24.95. It's very small, see photo.
