Some how it came to my hands a cap 232 ¼ from Hangar 9
I am planning to use a new MDS 148 engine for extra power
Is any body knows what the performance of this model will be , with the specific engine .
I am also planning to add a smoke pump to the model
since here in Greece there is no body importing any liquid for smoke .
I will need all your help for a good recipe

I had a MDS 148 with a jett engineering muffler in a Hanger 9 Edge 540. Not nearly enough power and that engine in my book stands for mostly dead sticks. Some people have gotten them to run well. Mine did not and I am not keen on buying extra things to make a new engine run right. A few dollars more, get an OS 160 for the plane and you will never look back.

A guy made a home made carb for the MDS 58, and it ran great. However, I would suggest a Moki 135 or an OS 160 for it, although the OS might be a little big.

I had the OS 160 engine on mine and it had plenty of power and the plane still was tail heavy. It did not rocket out of a hover but would pull and develope speed. That engine ran great. The plane is now being outfitted with a ZDZ 40. Will test it in a couple of weeks. Putting the ZDZ on because Jason Shulman wanted to see how the ZDZ would work. He thinks it will work great. I got a 3 blade Mejzlik to try on her with the ZDZ. Jason will be the test pilot as well as he has been with nearly all my planes. Excellent plane
with good review from Jason.

Hi,
I've got the same plane (without engine at the moment) and I'm thinking of Moki 1.80 or more likely a 2.10. Am I putting too much power in?
Also my experience of MDS is that to get them to run OK you need to change the carb.

Recommend Moki 180 or 210.

That is why I chose the zdz 40.
A light 2.4 gas that will work on the H9 Cap, and will fly an 80" if I decide to do so later. I did a bunch of searching on RCU, and the ZDZ "seems" to be the gasser of choice on this plane. Others include the FPE 2.4, Brison 2.4 (I almost bought one), the BME 2.7 and BME 3.0.................
Good luck whatever you decide.
