YAKPAK, I have heard about that but I dont think that was it. I think one of the cells fryed. After an inspection I found black on one of the cell ends. I was also using an MPI Miracle switch and anyone that I have spoke to about this ( in the giant scale world ) frown's upon MPI. I was told that there regulator can get hot seize up and upon inspection it will work as it has cooled down.

Emvin,
I thought you probably knew about the drain issue, however felt I better mention it just in case.
That is not the first time I have heard about problems with this regulator.
I am going to explore what Spektrum thinks about a 6V pak with their rx's.
Let you know what I find out.
Cheers
Steve

Emvin,
Spoke to Horizon Hobby tech service this morning.
They told me it was okay to use a 6V pak with your AR7000 rx
So if it is good enough for them I guess it is good enough for me.
If I have any issues going this route I will post them

Well. I changed my mind. I am going with the Saito 180. Does anyone know where to get it the cheapest?
My local hobbyshop said $375.
Also. Do you have any photos of it installed?
Thanks
PS:
Is there a smaller Saito that will do the job? I thought someone mentioned a 150 before but can't remember....

I know. I have so many questions. It's been so longsince I built a plane. Where are you running the antenna? Any photos? Did you make a hole on the top and attach it to the vertical stab.

Emvin.... What do you think of my previous questions....
BTW: You have been a great help. I will feel very confident with all the building tips you provided when I maiden it in a couple weeks.
1. Should I paint the firewall with epoxy or is it OK as is?
2. Where did you run the antenna and where is it attached? Any photos?

Emvin,
In terms of our new colleague Michaelvg11.
What do you think about reccomending an on-board ignition system for the Saito 180?
Cheers

Funny you mention that. I just bought that new Sullivan onboard ignition......
That's a great feature. They did not have those when I started this hobby.
Question:
Which muffler did you get for the Saito 180? Do you have any photos from under the Cowl. I just want to get a good idea of the space and cutouts needed.
Thanks

YakPak,
I agree the onboard ignition system is a good idea especially if there is going to be 3D flying involved.
Michael,
I used the stock muffler I do not have any cut out pix of the cowl. Typically the exit should be about twice as large as the entrance foe proper air flo. If you are using a perry pump there is no connection to the muffler. the vent line staus open to the atmosphere.

You mentioned a 18 inch prop for 3d, what other options are there? How about a 17 or 16?
I really hoping to be finished with this thing in a week or so....

I knew I forgot to ask something....
What size tank did you use? Did it impact placement of any other electronic components for CG purposes?
Do you need two or three lines in the tank? Maybe I answered my own question. You probably need just two. One to fill and one to the carb/or pump? Let me know....
How long is flight time?
Thanks again.

With the Saito 180 I had the best results with a wood 18X6 Pro zinger or Xoar. Use props with the rounded edge (the pro cut style) not the square tip. You do need to have a vent line just not connected to the muffler if using a perry pump. I used a 20oz tank. This is probably concervative but I figured on about 2oz per minute wide open ( you wont be wide open all the time) . I would fly for about 8 minutes and have plenty of reserve. Your fuel consumption will change as the engine is leaned out.
